Shepard is a shifty playmaker at the point guard position. He excels under pressure, maintaining his composure to find teammates and execute plays effectively. His great court vision allows him to play through contact while keeping an eye on the movement across the court. Defensively, he brings intensity and can hold his own against bigger guards driving the lane. Watch closely as he leads his team through the toughest playoff conference in Arkansas.

The floor general did it all for the Grizzlies in the win. He pushed the tempo, creating transition opportunties for teammates. Threaded the needle with great vision in the half court, or kept defenders guessing with no look feeds. And when his squad needed a big bucket to hold off a Memorial run, it was often Shepard who produced those scores. Including deep three pointers from well behind the line. Heady player on both ends of the court, with the swagger and chip on his shoulder needed to thrive as a smaller guard in a game of giants.

Quick lead guard who had spurts of absolutely filling it up as a scorer. Good first step to get downhill, where he really elevates at the rim to finish bigger than his size. Was comfortable off the ball as a consistent knock down threat. Scoring seems to be in his DNA. Great cap to a strong summer for Shepard, who will now fill it up in Arkansas gyms as a dynamic scorer.

Derek Shepard is a very fast guard with the ball in his hands especially in transition. In the open floor he attacks the paint aggressively through tough contact finishing at the rim at a great rate. Offensively he can go from a slow to fast pace keeping the defense guessing on how to guard him. Defensively he held his own competing on that side of the floor especially against opposing guards.

A microwave scorer from the lead guard spot. Shepard has the burst to get down hill and the lift to finish strong, even getting up for an impressive transition slam. Along with his ability to pressure the rim, he’s a capable shooter from distance, connecting on multiple three pointers. Especially with his moves to create seperation for off the dribble threes. His display of a full offensive arsenal on Sunday afternoon was impressive.
