BIBSI: 5th Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>June 6th-8th I attended the 17th annual&nbsp;<strong>Best in Basketball Summer Invitational&nbsp;</strong>at Mesquite HS in Gilbert/AZ.&nbsp;There were 24 teams playing in five showcase type of games over the three days.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Here is the All-Tournament 5th Team:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679292' first='Kobe' last='Bradley'] Mesquite</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A very athletic undersized scoring point guard. He is a good on-ball defender for position and scores it on the break and will rattle off catch threes one by one. His speed and athleticism will help the Wildcats this season and take pressure off of senior guard Ward.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1680984' first='Kaleb' last='Conley'] Boulder Creek</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing scorer with decent size and skill. A couple injured starters for the weekend and Conley stepped up and filled in nicely. He can shoot it from all levels with mid-range jumpers off the pull or catch and drill some threes off the catch. He rebounded well in his area and blocked shots and collected steal that led to layups.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1986854' first='Brandon' last='Curtis'] Campo Verde</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A shifty and quick scoring point guard with a nice handle. He will drive and kick it, he is very calm and poised and uses the pick and roll game to his advantage and will throw the dime. He scores with step backs from mid-range, catch threes with a super quick shooting release and he rebounds well despite his size. He will lead the team this year.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2457857' first='Jarren' last='Galarza'] Mesa (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring combo guard is a natural bucket getter. He scores with mid-range jumpers off the dribble, catch and shoot or pull-up threes and can drive it and finish with either hand. He has the floater game and has quick hands on defense.&nbsp;He was one of their top bench players last year and look for him to lead the way for them this year. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2291976' first='Collin' last='Kvamme'] Campo Verde&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized scoring point guard changes speeds well but also has some shift to his handle. He is a good rebounder for position and has a pretty looking stroke. He can rattle in catch threes, step backs off the dribble and he has quick hands on defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2457859' first='Wiley' last='Karber'] Arcadia&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized skilled power forward can score from all levels. He can euro step down the lane and scores with either hand. He can hit the three, he is a very good passer for position and will block shots. He rebounds the ball and brings natural energy to the court. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1986857' first='Nolan' last='Kramer'] Gilbert</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long and lean power forward moves well in space and he brings a lot of attention to him. He can score as he knows how to seal his man and go to work. He passes well out of the double team and grabs rebounds in and out of his area.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1591736' first='Dillan' last='McClinton'] Paradise Honors</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized tough power forward is very effective around the rim. He has great strength and a big motor to rebound and he is a good second and third jumper. He can make a quick spin move and score with his left or right hand. He keeps possessions alive and will block shots.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2223500' first='Noah' last='Ondoua'] St. Mary's&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A defensive scoring point guard with toughness. He will blow by with his quick burst and his first step is tough to defend. He hesitates to get downhill and will drive and finish it off with either hand. He can hit the three and he has a very tight handle in close spaces plus he is a good passer. He is a tough on-ball defender and brings energy.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1679293' first='Marcus' last='Ward'] Mesquite</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker framed scoring guard may lead them in scoring this year. He has a sneaky quick fist step and will handle contact in traffic using his thicker frame. He is a good rebounder with his size and will score on put backs but he will rattle in threes off the catch or dribble.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
