June 6th-8th I attended the 17th annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational at Mesquite HS in Gilbert/AZ. There were 24 teams playing in five showcase type of games over the three days.

Here is the All-Tournament 2nd Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='1570935' first='Kyler' last='Frye'] McClintock

A scoring lead guard who can make plays. He will drive and kick or dump it off but he is wired to score. He is part of the big three this year and will score with blow by layups in traffic and crafty finishes. He can get downhill using his left and loves the floater game. He can pull-up from mid-range or hit the catch three.

[player_tooltip player_id='1379909' first='Carson' last='Grier'] Valley Christian

A bigger wing point forward type is a great passer and will drive and kick it. He can pull-up from mid-range, he uses ball fakes into dribble drives in traffic and is deceptively quick and really knows how to hesitate and change speeds to get downhill. He will fall away from mid-range and even split defenders and rise up and score on put backs using his size.

[player_tooltip player_id='1900362' first='Colby' last='Jessup'] Valley Christian

A bigger point guard is a scoring facilitator. He is a true needle threader spraying the ball around the court. He scores with pull-ups off the dribble, euro steps, step backs and quick release triples from the volleyball line. He will collect steals and throw the dime to a teammate. His deep shooting separates him from many.

[player_tooltip player_id='2339084' first='Samuel' last='Kalikilwa'] West Point

A bigger scoring guard is a very good passer, he defends multiple positions and scores. He will score on offensive rebound put backs, he cuts off the ball smartly, alley-oops, catch threes and and-1's in traffic with his thicker frame. He is long in the passing lanes to collect steals and has great defensive instincts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986845' first='Mason' last='Kendrick'] Arcadia (Pictured)

A versatile scoring guard with some size. He scores it inside with rebound put backs, runners, he gets downhill in traffic, will go to work with his left or right hand in traffic using his build/frame. He often gets to the FT line, he can pull-up from mid-range, hit the catch three and is an outstanding rebounder for his size.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146268' first='Brock' last='Knee'] Arcadia

A good sized rising sophomore shooting guard is a sniper. He will rattle off threes with deep range with a super quick trigger. He also score with tough drives on the break with either hand and he is a good passer. He has a high feel for the game and is a neck up type of player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1620346' first='Joshua' last='McManaway'] McClintock

A good sized shooting guard can score from all three levels. He has deep three point range, he takes contact with his long frame and will pull-up from mid-range. He rebounds well and can make a play for his teammates. When he is playing well, they are a tough team to beat.

[player_tooltip player_id='2354553' first='Austin' last='Ouko'] Bella Vista Prep

A bigger wing forward is a versatile defender who will switch on forwards and stays with guards. He rebounds at a high level in and out of his area and will block shots way above the rim. He will score in transition with dunks on the break, rip thrus and occasional threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1542272' first='Michael' last='Payne'] Cholla

A scoring point guard with deep range. He will makes passes the full length of the court to a teammate in stride and he is a very unselfish passer. He is very quick to get to his spots and will ball fake and burst into the lane. He has an ultra quick shooting release and not many in the state get it out of his hands like him. He has the floater game and his on-ball defense stands out.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285934' first='Zaire' last='Richardson'] San Tan Charter

A scoring combo guard is quick on quick. He has a real burst to get downhill and handles contact well. He is very slippery to get by his defenders and will either score or make a play. He has very fast hands on defense to collect steals and had a key steal down the stretch and bucket to get a big win.
