Top Five Teams of the Week!
- (1) Minnesota Fury Zurn. It was a complete whooping of their Scheels opponents for another weekend championship.
- (2) Team GA. Won the Meg Vang Invite at 15s and did it in big number fashion.
- (3) Crossfire Colby. Won the other Meg Vang 15s bracket and did it beating Rush and Fury Muir.
- (4) J Sizzle. A 3-1 weekend at the Adidas event is a nice run against a tough level of play.
- (5) Fury Goring. Three double digit wins and a close loss, good weekend!
3SSB Session Two. J Sizzle won three of four in the Adidas event beating the Gauchos and Team Huncho as a part of their weekend. D1 Minnesota beat Garner Road and Utah Prospects to start the event but then dropped their next two games.
Scheels League Weekend 2. The Minnesota Fury Zurn team easily went through the 15u division pushing their four event record now to 16-1 on the year. Fury Goring also had a big weekend. They beat three opponents by double figures and had a one score loss to North Dakota Phenom earning third place in the league. Comets Dahl might have been dealt the toughest hand getting Fury Johnson 14s (an incredible 14s team) first and then ECI. After losing in two close games they won their last two.
And I think we have a new occurrence: if my records are right, Select Fuerte and Heat GVR (who have the same record through four events) have already played FOUR times this season. They have split the series. So, do you fight to make sure they never play again or go all the way with it and make sure they always play so it’s a seven game series? (kidding, kind of).
Meg Vang Invitational. Two up and coming programs – Team GA and Minneapolis Central – played in the title game and GA won giving them the weekend championship. Team GA won all their games by double digits. Crossfire Colby had a similar weekend to Team GA also winning three games, also winning their bracket, and also winning all their final four games games by double diguts.
KC Classic. The top ranked 15s in the state (Howard Pulley) backed up their ranking in KC by blowing out everybody in Pool B. Their closest game was against Team Factory who they beat 59-45. That is the same Team Factory team that Minnesota Lightning King beat 56-52 last weekend. Pulley Wade was in Pool A with a lot of the heavy hitters and went 0-4 (I’m guessing, I don’t know this for sure, but I think Pulley’s top team played a lot of the teams in Pool A in a previous set of Iowa events which is why they were in B).
