I finally got to watch some more AA non-varsity film, so there are some very solid additions there. There’s an addition that is a sharp-shooter from three and received All-NEC 3rd team All-Conference honors. A starting point guard from AA Spearfish was added, and new additions from Brookings that are set to be contributors next season.
Mount is a nice addition to the rankings after a season of scoring 11.4 ppg. and securing 4.0 rpg. He earned All-NEC 3rd team for his play this past season. As you’ll see in the featured photo for the article, Mount is a big and muscular guard, especially for a Sophomore. On the court, he’s looking for his three-point shot and is always shot-ready. He shot 34.0% from three. A consistent and steady three-point form and release, where his feet are always set. A 2-guard that isn’t flashy with the ball or his offensive approach. Defensively, he guards taller players in the post, but is able to do so with his mass and strong build.
Highlights
Kortan is a really good addition to the rankings as the starting point guard for AA Spearfish. A true point guard that has an efficient handle on the ball and can run an offense. A well-rounded game offensively and a player that can make plays on the ball and create turnovers defensively. Shows good shot selection and can hit an open three with a smooth release. His ranking will only be going up.
Really like the addition of Huntimer to this round of rankings. He’s a guard with some solid length and movement. An athletic kid and athletic-looking build. Has a solid enough handle on the ball to be able to bring it up, but doesn’t translate to a natural point guard. He should be an effective varsity player in his Junior season.
Johnson’s main trait may be his ability from three. If he’s set and given time at the three-point line, it’s going to be an accurate shot attempt. Always on-target.
Keiser is a long, active, and mobile 6’5” prospect out of Gregory and playing with Black Hills Express . He came off the bench on the varsity team as a steady player in the rotation on a team that made the state tournament. In the game to go to state against Dell Rapids St. Mary, Keiser immediately matched-up with stud guard Mav LeBrun upon checking in, and was hounding him with length and movement, making him earn everything. Crashes the boards and gives good overall effort.
Highlights
Dilges has great length as a 6’3” wing for Pierre. Uses his long arms to defend on the perimeter. Highly active all over the court and ran the floor hard. Was a main contributor on the JV team.
Hartman is a solid addition as a starting guard for Mitchell’s JV team, whose varsity won the AA state championship. He’s a sound and controlled offensive two-guard. A solid and attentive defender that focuses on his defensive positioning. More of a glider on a wing than an explosive offensive player. Has a steady gear and is always on the move. Sets screens, moves the ball, crashes the boards, and will hustle back on D.
