In the 16U bracket, Blade Elite and Courtside United Basketball Club kicked things off. It was a game of runs, quality perimeter shot-making, and a valiant second-half comeback by Courtside.
Ultimately, Blade Elite’s guard play and ability to get to the free-throw line down the stretch sealed their 89-77 win over Courstide United Basketball Club despite being outscored 40 to 36 in the second half. Courtside got within four points with eight minutes remaining in the second half before Blade Elite went on one final run. Here are the top performers from both squads.
Isaiah Baker
Isaiah Baker
Baker played an excellent game, setting the tone earlier with strong dribble drives to the paint. He finished the night with 15-points and five rebounds. He was the most aggressive player on the floor all night and let his voice be heard on the court and bench. Down the stretch of the game, he appeared to suffer an injury to his quad but was able to walk off the court and was in high spirits after the game. This kid is a sneaky good athlete with decent verticality in a 6-2 frame.
Noah Herrmann
Noah Herrmann
The first thing that stood out about Noah Herrmann was his ability to fill it up from deep. He had a near perfect first half from the field, hitting multiple threes, while extending the Blade Elite lead to double digits. On the night he finished with 17-points and three 3-pointers. When the jumper stopped falling in the second half, he adjusted, got to the rim and put pressure on the defense. Bar none, he was the best shooter on the floor.
Henry Moore
Henry Moore
Arguably the most impressive player on the night was Henry Moore. Others scored more and had flashier plays, but Moore played an all-round excellent game. In a contest that was largely an up and down affair, the Lake Highlands point guard brought some defensive intensity. Additionally, he provided some well needed second half scoring finishing with 14-points, two steals and a block.
The biggest mismatch on the floor was big man Jared Cook Jared Cook 6’3″ | PF Fort Worth THESA | 2026 TX . Courtside had a platoon swap rotation, subbing five players at a time; thus, Cook did not see as much time as some of top players on Blade Elite. But when he was on the floor, he raked up points in a hurry. From 8 feet in, he played a near spotless game. More impressively, very few on his 16-points came on post touches. He cleaned up misses, sealed defenders, and hit the occasional six-foot push shot. At 6-4, he was the biggest player on the floor, and it showed in the paint.

If it wasn’t for Cason Cook Cason Cook 5’4″ | PG Azle | 2027 TX , this game would have been a blowout. For the first 10 minutes of the second half, Cook was the most impactful player on the court. He led the charge for Courtside getting back in the game, scoring a game-high 19 points while hitting a pair of 3-pointers. His energy, playmaking, and ability to score from the perimeter changed the game for Courtside.
