The Great American Shootout (GASO) in DFW hosted some of the best players in Texas and the surrounding states this past weekend. Being that it was the evaluation period for NCAA coaches, there were a ton of them out observing players. There were some players who turned heads of scouts and coaches at the Southwest Athletic Center in Carrollton. In this review of the evaluation period, we will look at some of those players who impressed at the GASO.

[player_tooltip player_id='2316989' first='Tyrone' last='Jamison'] (JL3 Elite)- The top player in the Louisiana class of 2027 showed some impressive skills during his weekend in Texas. He is very good with the handle and very adept at the two dribble pull-up from the mid-range. Jamison also understands angles well and how to attack the rim. His play was instrumental in JL3 leaving with several wins on the weekend.

Amoni Francis (JL3 Elite)- Francis is a forward who is good at rebounding and getting out in transition. His elevation off the floor is eye-popping and he attacks the ball off the glass. Francis is also very fast when he changes ends in transition. His athleticism is otherworldly and he is very hard to stop from getting to the rim and finishing.

Isaiah Santos (JL3Elite) - Santos is a player who is equipped to play the post or wing with his skill set. During the weekend in Carrollton, he showed the ability to grab rebounds and facilitate the break. On defense, he displayed the skill to switch from guards to bigs and handle each situation well. His multifaceted game shows how highly skilled he is. Santos has a very high ceiling.

Vincent Vicencio (Latino Select) - Vicencio is a heady and smart wing who knows how to play the right way. He is not swift but he uses a series of ball and shot fakes to get the advantage on defenders. Vicencio displayed college range and consistency from behind the arc. His play opens the floor up for others to take advantage.

Brian Brown Jr. (Shooting Stars Red 17U) - Brown was a guard who constantly placed pressure on the opposing team during his weekend at the GASO. He is a very good rebounder for his size and he believes in getting down hill. Brown handles well in transition and attacks the rim to score at all times. His game is well suited for a team that gets up and down the floor as he does.

Jakyris Jenkins (Louisiana Hoops 16U) - The Louisiana Hoops guard displayed a very seductive and effective handle during the weekend in DFW. He used the dribble to breakdown defenders on several occasions and get to the paint. Jenkins also showed that he can finish plays either getting to the rim or using a short push shot to score. He is a player to watch in Louisiana circles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2732612' first='Tristan' last='Garza'] (Next Level Elite) - Garza played the point impeccably during the weekend. He was in command at all times and kept the ball on a string. Tristan was not rattled by taller defenders and he was always able to get to his spots. His use of the baseline dribble to find the corner shooter was exceptional. Give him a sliver of space and he knocked down shots as well. A high IQ player.

Bryce Christian (Next Level Elite) - The lefty guard proved that he was a deadeye shooter against various opponents on the weekend. Bryce has a very good handle as well and he is very good at using fakes and the dribble to gain space for his shot. His release is very quick as well and defenders were late rotating to him on numerous occasions. Christian is an high IQ guard as well.

Jaishua Brown (Rose City Warriors) - Brown is one of the those players who is very good at several things on the floor. He is an athletic forward who can guard the post or switch out on the perimeter. Offensively, Jaishua is very good on the offensive boards and is able to score in the post. Brown can also handle in the open floor and finish with either hand. His skill set is one that fills the whole stat sheet. Brown is a very good player.

The GASO definitely had its share of players who probably fly under the radar because they are not on a shoe circuit (outside of JL3). These players are ones that will help a program in the future and are good players on their travel teams. The future is bright for all of the preps mentioned above.
