Here are a few standout guards we’ve enjoyed from the greater Kansas City area:
Noah Carlton, 6-foot guard, 2025, Tonganoxie, LTD:
An all-out hustler, Carlton is building toward a big senior season by playing a very versatile role for LTD. He made some great takes to the lane in spring action, attacking on the bounce and drawing a lot of fouls. He is sharing the point with some other good guards, moving without the ball and filling lanes in transition.
Jerrick Chenhall, 5-foot-7 guard, 2025, McLouth, LTD:
A feisty backcourt mate of Carlton with LTD, Chenhall gets after it on defense, getting back quickly, getting up in the face of ballhandlers and jumping passing lanes. He showed he can play off the ball, and when he has the ball on the perimeter, he can create his own shot. Left alone, he can be a very dangerous shooter from deep.
Briggs Cunningham, 6-foot guard, 2026, Gardner-Edgerton, SSA (pictured):
Cunningham is one of the most intriguing and impressive players we’ve watched the past couple of years. He is a versatile athlete who seems to play bigger than his size. He can play forward, defending bigger players and crashing the boards. But when the ball is in his hands, he has point guard skills and instincts. He makes a lot of impressive passes in transition.
Hudson Gaa Hudson Gaa 6'0" | PG Spring Hill | 2025 KS , 5-foot-11 guard , 2025, Spring Hill, LTD:
Gaa popped this spring as a guy who can really shoot it or facilitate offense. He handles it well and pushes the tempo as a point man. But when he’s off the ball, he hunts shots and has the catch-and-release skill to knock it down.
Max Johnson Max Johnson 6'1" | PG De Soto | 2025 KS , 6-foot-2 guard, 2025, De Soto, SSA:
It’s no surprise Johnson had a nice spring. He’s been a key contributor to good De Soto teams for a couple of years. Johnson is a solid all-around player who runs the baseline and moves on the perimeter to catch and shoot. From the outside, he makes nice feeds into the paint. Johnson has sneaky athleticism and good length for a guard.
