Continue ReadingEven though we have a very incomplete list of 2028’s, we still love to project where these players might be next year. It might surprise you at the amount of players on this list that will come in and contribute right away. And even more surprising is there’s players on this list at nearly every position and at schools in all divisions. But these players are the future for some programs, a glimmer of hope, the missing piece or another star in the making.
- Ayden Spence Ayden Spence 6'0" | SG Cabell Midland | 2028 WV is oddly enough possibly the top player in this class yet the one most unlikely to play varsity right away. Spence is a smooth and efficient shooting guard that will attend Cabell Midland in the fall and if you’ve watched high school basketball this year, you have seen a dip in shooting efficiency. That being said a player like Spence could be a hot commodity very quickly. The problem is Cabell Midland is already loaded with very talented players in its 25, 26 and 27 classes which could make it unlikely for Spence to see the floor, BUT if he does see the floor during varsity time for the Knights, i can tell you one guy that won’t be surprised.
- Jacari Goode Jacari Goode 5'9" | PG St Albans | 2028 WV has been one of the great stories of the Kanawha Valley this past year in regards to sports. He led his middle school in most categories in basketball but not before also being the field general at QB for their football team. Goode is already a strong built point guard who slashes and dashes through most defenses with ease. He will however enter the varsity level (most likely) at St Albans High School this coming season and find some time on the floor judging by their roster. Goode has great presence on the floor commanding attention driving to the hoop where his best talent might be finding teammates after drawing defenders. Goode is strong enough to not get knocked off balance and off schedule during his time on the floor.
- Kahsi Morgan Kahsi Morgan 5'7" | CG Teays Valley Christian School | 2028 WV has yet to dissapoint anyone that’s watched him. He seems to play above the competition no matter the venue or event. Playing up at the varsity level as an eighth grader, Morgan contributed on a talented and winning Teays Valley team. Morgan will no doubt play a bigger role this coming season losing Maki Cary Maki Cary 5'10" | PG Teays Valley Christian | 2025 State WV to transfer and others to graduation. Kahsi will need to grow up quickly but we have not doubt he’ll rise to the occasion and deliver as he always seems to do.
- Noah Hood Noah Hood 6'5" | C Tyler Consolidated | 2028 WV will add much needed height for the Tyler Consolidated program. Already at 14 years old Hood is the biggest player in their program. Hood will see action early and alot of it and nobody will be surprised if he starts game one. Hood is a legit 6’5″ already and led a very successful Tyler ms team that played a great regional schedule. Hood is a great shooter from any level and a big body, but don’t think he’s just out there to take up space, he’ll have scoring responsibility from the get go.
- Roe Maston Roe Maston 6'3" | SF St Marys | 2028 WV could be the next star for St Mary’s. Maston already in the 6’3″ range at 14 years old also has good ball handling skill and a bouncyness that helps him rebound. Maston will be entering his freshman year immediately competing for minutes and likely the biggest player on the roster. We’d expect Maston to be 7th or 8th in the rotation coming off the bench.
- Isaiah Waminan Isaiah Waminan 5'10" | CG Point Pleasant | 2028 WV could be an immediate starter for Point Pleasant if they are considering themselves in a rebuild. PP has been hit with graduation of some great size and possibly looking to put as much talent on the floor as possible regardless of age. Waminan is fun to watch and he really loves the game and has a passion for it. You can tell when watching he takes great pride in his game and tries to do everything the right way. Look forward to seeing him on the varsity floor this fall.
