Continue ReadingThe spring AAU season is about to get into full swing with the first weekend of April coming up. The shooting guard group has the potential to have a big April, especially the ones flying under the radar. Here are the 2025 shooting guard prospects who could breakout this month.
Josias Carbon Josias Carbon 6'2" | SG DePaul Catholic | 2025 State NJ , 6’2 DePaul Catholic
Carbon has the potential to have a big April with his ability to make plays at both ends of the floor. The 6’2 guard explodes off the floor for dunks and finishes nicely around the basket. Carbon uses his handle to create separation from his defender and sets his feet before he shoots. He is a strong rebounder and uses his athleticism to make plays on the defensive end. Carbon is a slasher whose ability to impact the game at both ends of the floor will help his stock in a big way this month.
Devin Merker Devin Merker 6'3" | SG Pascack Valley | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 Pascack Valley
Merker had a solid junior season for Pascack Valley and is looking to carry it over into April. The 6’3 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. Merker is more than just a shooter as he can also get to the rim off the bounce and does not mind contact. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is an underrated passer. Merker’s ability to stretch the floor is something that will help his game in a big way in April.
Mason Mangione Mason Mangione 6'3" | SG Glen Rock | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 Glen Rock
Mangione had a monster junior season as he poured in 475 points this season for the Panthers. The 6’3 guard has a clean shooting stroke as he wastes little motion and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Mangione also has a solid handle as he can get into the paint off the dribble and finish around the rim. He is unafraid of taking clutch shots in key situations and slides his feet on the defensive end. Mangione had 10 20-point games in 2023-24 and is looking to carry over that scoring prowess into April.
Nasir Hudson Nasir Hudson 6'1" | SG Hackensack | 2025 State NJ , 6’1 Hackensack
Hudson has the ability to play either backcourt spot, making him one of the more intriguing shooting guards in the class. The 6’1 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he finishes strong around the rim and is unafraid of drawing contact. Hudson can also score in the mid-range and knock down open jumpers when given space behind the arc. He is a good rebounder and uses his quick hands to get deflections on defense. Hudson’s ability to play on and off the ball makes him a prospect to watch this April.
Brady Hahn Brady Hahn SG Middletown South | 2025 State NJ , 6’3 Middletown South
Hahn led the Eagles in scoring in 2023-24 and should carry over his play into the spring. The 6’3 guard has deep range on his jumper and only needs a little bit of space to get his jumper off. Hahn moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the halfcourt. He works hard for rebounds on both ends of the floor and rarely forces jumpers in the halfcourt. Hahn is a sharpshooting guard prospect whose ability to knock down triples in bunches will help his stock throughout the month.
