Max Wallace
Max Wallace
Max Wallace is a big man with a lot of upside. While he didn’t have a huge role for the Ramblers last season, I could see him becoming an impact player throughout the summer and next year. His ability to combine traditional post play with modern perimeter skills makes him a versatile player. In the post, Max features strong fundamentals with an array of moves that make him a tough matchup. His ability to face up and knock down shots forces bigger defenders to step out of their comfort zone. Physically, Max is both strong and tenacious. It’s evident in his rebounding. This summer he needs to continue focusing on improving his athleticism and footwork.
Kellen Ball plays a physically powerful game. While 6’3 might seem a bit small for a “big man,” his physicality makes him seem even taller on the court. Kellen’s robust frame and aggressive playing style make him an excellent rebounder. His ability to finish in traffic is another exciting part of his game. Offensively, Kellen shows potential beyond just a traditional post player. He has demonstrated a reliable shot when stepping away from the basket. These are mostly in spot-up situations, so he could add another element by developing a shot fake and pull up jumper. While Kellen was a role player for Meadville last season, I could see him becoming a go-to guy if he continues to work on this athleticism and ball handling over the summer.
Tyler Robbins might be the best big man in the WPIAL. He averaged a double-double and was named the WPIAL Player of the Year. He has become stronger over the years and is an absolute force in the post. Tyler has an unexpectedly smooth shooting stroke for a player of his size, with the capability to stretch defenses out to the perimeter. He is also a big time shot blocker. He should have a big AAU season this summer, and I expect some offers to start coming in soon.
Sam Kamenko
Sam Kamenko
Sam Kamenko is a truly versatile big man. While he is 6’7, he has the quickness and agility of a guard. His ability to run the floor with such ease for his size is remarkable. He is also an exceptional shooter. Defensively, Sam’s versatility shines as he can guard anyone from the smallest guard to a true center. Sam’s high basketball IQ is evident in his playmaking. He sees the floor exceptionally well for a player of his stature. Sam Kamenko’s combination of guard-like skills in a big man’s body should be getting him college offers soon.
Jacob Dunkle
Jacob Dunkle
Jacob Dunkle is already a talked about name in Western Pennsylvania basketball. He averaged a double-double and was awarded First Team honors last year at Trinity. He is super mobile for a big man. He runs the floor well and shows great agility and speed. He is also a big time rim protector. While he is an excellent post player with an array of moves, he isn’t confined to the block — he also steps out and knocks down 3’s.
