Twin Cities Takedown. The TC Takedown was a really big event so far this one we are going to run through items with Basketball in Bullet Points:
- D1 Minnesota 17s earned wins over the Colorado Miners, Minnesota Lightning and had a battle against Minnesota Select on Saturday night
- Minnesota Lightning split their games in the pool of the event.
- Southwest Minnesota Stars went 3-1 winning Pool B which included a nice win over Real Phenom
- D1 Minnesota Gold , the second team for D1 Minnesota , had a 3-0 record to win their pool
- Midwest Kings opened eyes beating Comets Allen, Heat Pres, and the Falcons in their pool
- Minnesota Chill not only won their pool over Select Koch, Real Phenom second team and Power Circle, they also beat the Midwest Kinds for a 4-0 weekend
- Heat Leo went 3-1 winning their pool and then beating Buffalo Legacy by a point in the cross pool contest.
- Minnesota Lightning Herber had a 4-0 weekend beating the Grizzlies and three teams from outside the state.
Midwest Festival of Teams. Minnesota Fury Wilde was one of 15 teams in the 17u event: they blew out their first three opponents and then defeated Omaha Elite by six and Iowa Prep by ten in the championship final four games. That’s a 5-0 weekend.
Denver Showcase. The Comets Elite 17u became the latest Minnesota team to take a trip to Denver – it’s a place everybody in Minnesota wants to visit these days – and went 4-0 earning three blowout wins in the second pool as well as a nice 63-58 win over Team Daum. D1 Minnesota also played Team Daum this month (77-57 game) and Minnesota Select Ohnstad beat Team Daum in the late July Denver 16u title game in 2023 (82-74).
Spring Extravaganza. Gain Elite made the elite eight of the event before losing to the Quad City Shockers who played in the title game (not sure if the the 5:20pm scheduled Sunday game was played as no winner is listed). They won four of five. J Sizzle Gold split their four games.
ECYL. The EYCL was in Memphis this past weekend and Howard Pulley earned three wins out of four games. They beat good teams from Team Ramey and Team Iso Joe as well as the second team from Team Thad with a loss to MoKan Select who is the MoKan second team but MoKan traditionally has one of the better second teams you will find so also a very good win.
