While the Seniors start to make their decisions if they have’t already we want to talk about the future of Suffol Basketball. This article will provide you with some of the best shooters in Section XI we got to evaluate plus they are all expected to come back for another season or two.
Jermaine King
Jermaine King
King had a breakout season for the Colonials as one of their primary ball handlers and scorers this past season. They were one of the top programs not only in Section XI but all of Long Island thanks to King’s strong play. He can take it to the cup, get by defenders, create for others and loves to knock down threes. His ability to make em off the catch or dibble was very impressive plus he plays with swagger and confidence. We are excited to see him return for his Senior year as one of the best shooters and prospects on Long Island.

Reddick is one of the purest three point shooters in all of Section XI. He is in the game to stretch the floor, put pressure on the defense, shred zones and he is not gun shy. This past season he hit over 50 threes without even being one of the main scoring options so we can’t wait to see what he can do with some more responsibilites. We would like Reddick to tighten up his handle, hit the gym a little more and for him to improve his consistency but we love his ability to heat up quickly.
Ellis had some great moments for the Thunderbirds during his sophomore season especially from beyond the arc. The young guard has the ability to hit mid range shots, draw fouls, get by defenders and finish but we love his perimeter game. He is great running off of screens, spaces out the floor for drivers, is always ready for a catch shoot opportunity and was clutch when HillsEast needed it.

The three and D prospect had another great season for the Cougars which included over 50 triples. He is lethal from the corner, plays great on ball defense, knows where to sit in the help and can create his own shot. We always compare his game to Danny Green the way he can impact beyond the arc and defensively but he did how us a more developed offensive skillset. His development is definitely one to watch as he might be one of our favorite CHSAA prospects next year and if he perfect the three who knows how high of a level he could end up at.
Mascia was a sleeper of ours coming into this season after we saw him excel in a couple of workouts in the offseason. He showed a tremendous ability to make shots from all three levels especially from beyond the arc and his form was terrific. The young sniper has excellent size for a shooting guard, he has a high basketball IQ, full confidence of the coaching staff and still has plenty of potential still in his game. We look forward to the college programs starting to notice Mascia because he has all the makings of a future Section XI star.

Boylan is an emerging wing in Suffolk County who delivered on a big Junior year and should be even better as a Senior. He was the main guy for the Tigers this year, was a double double threat every night and showed an ability to be a three level scorer. His work on his mid range opened up his game even more, he was confident from beyond the arc all season whether off the dribble or off screens and seemed to never take bad shot. We are a big fan of his potential next season, he has yet to play his best basketball and he should be one of the most sought prospects on the Island.
