Liam Slattum Liam Slattum 6'8" | PF Woodburn | 2024 State OR is still available. The 6-foot-9 and potentially still growing senior from Woodburn High School remains unsigned as he plays out this spring with More Than Hoops on the AAU circuit, but interest is growing. This is all coming off a solid high school season where he not only grew as a player but also helped the Bulldogs get one step away from the 5A title game.
“We all kind of came together as a brotherhood – more of a brotherhood than we were last year,” Slattum said. “I think it really made a big impact on our season. It meant a lot to get third place – it’s something to be proud of getting third place instead of fifth place. Especially when West Albany got fourth place, we couldn’t get fifth place – we had to be third place. So that meant a lot.”
Woodburn won the third place game over Putnam and it was a game where Slattum shined with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting (including a three), 10 rebounds, and three blocks. This was just over his averages of 12.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.9 blocked shots and knocked down a three a game – a year where he continued to develop as a player.
“The season went really good – I got more shots, got more confidence, a lot more confidence,” Slattum said. “I started playing within the offese a little more and listened to coach a bit more.”
With his length, ability to stretch defenses with his shot, and frame capable of adding more bulk, there’s no question that Slattum is a legitimate college recruit. In fact he recently earned his first scholarship offer from Chadron State in Nebraska and he’s hoping to take a visit there soon as he plays out this spring with More Than Hoops .
“I’m still open right now but I’m trying to get to D-II,” Slattum said. “I’m looking for family. Like the brotherhood here (at Woodburn), it’s a family I want to have in college too.”
