He is very comfortable running the offense and playing against pressure. With the ball in his hands he mainly looks to attack then kick it out. Boils made a few really good plays driving baseline, once kicking it out to the corner for an open 3 and another dropping it off to the big for a layup. Off ball he has a smooth 3pt shot, and knocks it down enough to keep the defense honest. Late game Boils made 2 really smart plays on defense that helped his team hold on to the lead. First he stunted hard enough on a drive to make the attacker kick out, and then recovered quick enough to not let the other team's knockdown shooter get a shot off late game. Next play he crashed on a rebound and boxed out the big man to get an over the back call. His strong base allows him to be controlled finishing through contact. For how quick and powerful he is at the basket, he has a really soft touch within 5 feet. In the post he is strong attacking with his right. He had multiple possessions in the post where the defense tried to doubled him but he would attack it strong and finish tough finishes. Muhammad is tenacious going for rebounds on offense and defense. It really takes a team to stop him from dominating the boards. Offensively there might not be a weakness in his game. Very good 3pt shooter, can attack close outs and get to the rim, and also can get to his midrange with one or two dribbles for the pull up. He uses his length to his advantage and is very comfortable with the ball for his size. Defensively he plays more of an anchor in the paint. Has a nose for the ball and able to get his hand on a lot of shots around the rim. If he can improve his lateral speed to be more comfortable defending guards, his defensive game will go to another level. He is patient when coming around the screen, taking what the defense is giving him. He is confident hitting the roll, taking it all the way himself, or pulling up for a midrange if the defense drops. Explodes on his jump shot making it hard to contest but also giving him the timing and control to get his balance. Shooter! There might not be a better shooter in Arkansas for the 8th grade class. When he gets the ball the first thing he is looking for is to shoot, no matter where he is on the court. The other team quickly knows what role Mentzer is playing. If he knocks 1 or 2 down early it will be a long game for whoever's guarding him. Speed and lateral quickness are the two biggest areas his game that he can grow in the future. His foot speed is slow, but his shot makes up for it a more.
