James wins the award for “physical specimen” at Prep Hoops Twin Cities Takedown in the 15U group. Physically he was in his own tier, at a 6’7” chiseled and built-up frame. An athletic 6’7” as well, and showed he can get up and throw it down with two hands. An athletic five-man that could run the floor and played with power and muscle. Offensively, he went directly at the hoop to score through defenders. A big-time shot blocker that could reach the ball at a high point.
Highlights
Biggie Houts
Biggie Houts
Houts can defend at a high level and with intensity. Absolutely gets after the ball-handler and gets up into them, making it difficult for them to perform there next move. Not a guy you want to see guarding you.
Myshawn Washington
Myshawn Washington
Washington is a lefty playmaking guard, that made things happen for Minneapolis Central Black. An athletic and fluid athlete and used it well to find ways to score the ball. I thought he was the team’s best offensive weapon. He also competed defensively and created steals.
Timothy Holmes
Timothy Holmes
Holmes was a consistent performer from a wing/forward spot. He was a do-it-all type and seemed like an x-factor for his team. He’d get down and defend on and off the ball. Did a good job finishing at the hoop through contact. He showed he could get to the hoop in a straight line drive and finish athletically at the hoop. Got his nose in the paint, earning him many offensive put-backs.
Smuda really impressed. He’s got great size at 6’5” from a wing/forward type. Ran the floor well and had a constant motor. He went off the drive in a straight line manner, using his big and strong frame to get to the hoop. He was highly physical off the drive and finished when he got there. Used his length to defend at the hoop and was contesting three-point shooters.
