This commitment catch-up checks in on a prospect headed to one of the top D3 conferences in the country, two prospects headed to play in the Northeast-10, and another prospect that will head to the Division 1 level.
Berete made his college plans official this week when he announced that he will be attending Trinity College. A long and lean wing, Berete stands out on the defensive end of the floor where his activity level and instincts make him a strong defender both in the full-court and the half-court. Offensively, he runs the floor hard in transition, makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, and has a good feel for when to crash the offensive glass. He’s at his best as a cutter and slasher and does a nice job of finishing with length at the rim. Making an immediate impact in the NESCAC is difficult, but, Berete has the type of two-way ability that makes his chances of instant success at the next level that much higher.
Jeffers came off the board this week with his commitment to Bentley University. A high academic prospect that was an all-NEPSAC honorable mention selection this winter, Jeffers has the ability to play and guard multiple positions and continues to add new elements to his game. He’s a combo forward that is comfortable playing with the ball in his hands. He does a good job making decisions in DHO and ball-screen actions and is a particularly difficult cover when he catches in the high post. Defensively, he can guard on the perimeter or in the post, reads the play before it happens, and excels as a rebounder who can push the ball in transition. He fits the mold of a prototypical Northeast-10 forward and should be able to have a nice four year career at Bentley.
Tangishaka announced that he will continue his basketball career at the next level when he Assumption University. An all-NEPSAC honoree this winter, Tangishaka is a big guard that can really score the basketball. A true three-level scorer, he has deep range on his jumper, quickly changes direction off the bounce, and has the frame to finish through contact at the rim. He has great postional size, deceptive athleticism, and a terrific feel for playing with pace. Defensively, his strength should allow him to guard up a position, while his athleticism and lateral mobility should allow him to guard both back-court spots. It’s a nice late pickup for Assumption as Tangishaka has real potential to be an instanct impact piece at the next level and should develop into an all-league type of player in the Northeast-10.
Highlights
Zimmerman’s decision came this week when he announced his commitment to Quinnipiac University. A big combo guard with elite shot creation ability, Zimmerman is a next level athlete that can play on or off the ball. He’s a crafty ball handler, bouncy rim finisher, and tough shot maker that plays with an edge at all times. He plays with a great combination of finesse and power, doesn’t back down from a challenge, and is known to make highlight reel plays on both ends of the floor. He has all the tools to be an elite wing defender and shows real rim protection ability coming from the help side. He’s a quality late pickup for Quinnipiac and the type of prospect who should make an immediate impact in the MAAC.
