The PrepHoops Circuit kicked off this weekend at sites around the country and the Hustle Region at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA finished off with a very competitive day of action on Sunday. We got a chance to watch a number of games and here are some of the top performers we witnessed.

17U

Shawn Acosta (2024 James Logan-CA) - The MVP of the final game of the day was Acosta, who put on a show with his scoring ability for Off the Dribble. The 6-foot-2 unsigned senior creatively got into the lane for some finishes, including what appeared to be a patented spin move around defenders. Acosta also proved to be dangerous from the perimeter hitting open shots.

Johnson Tran (2025 Mt Eden-CA) - Tran may have been the top all-around scorer we saw on Sunday. The 6-foot-2 wing from Off the Dribble was able to show off his ability to score at all three levels, showing great range and touch on his shot but also the skill to get to the right spots and in the lane off the bounce. An active defender, Tran was able to guard multiple positions as well.

Jalen Thomas (2025 Moreau Catholic-CA) - One of the fastest players we saw on the day, Thomas was near unstoppable especially once he got downhill. The 5-foot-9 from Off the Dribble really pushed the ball and when he got to the hoop, was able to finish with either hand in a variety of acrobatic ways. A solid shooter, he also was able to hit a number of open shots while finding open teammates.

16U

[player_tooltip player_id='1582973' first='Jemai' last='Lake'] (2026 Tualatin) - One of the top big-name in-state players in the event, Lake did not disappoint. The rising junior from Fly Academy showed off his advanced feel for the game and it was apparent his focus was on creating and facilitating for his teammates, which led to a number of easy buckets. Lake was quick on defense and got loose on the break for some easy points of his own too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2393070' first='Elijah' last='Harari'] (2026 Lincoln) - Great hustle led to great results for Harari in a winning effort for Fly Academy. The 6-foot-2 forward worked hard on the boards and used his toughness to finish through contact in the lane. While his best results were off the drive, Harrari showed off a pretty nice touch on his jumper as well and knocked down a three.

[player_tooltip player_id='2395636' first='Dylan' last='McGrain'] (2026 Jesuit) - McGrain - the son of former Jesuit legend Mike McGrain - proved himself to be a tough gritty competitor on every possession. A shooter with the ability to create space for himself off the dribble, this was totally evident in Team Premier's first game in the morning as McGrain drained a step-back three at the buzzer for the victory.

[player_tooltip player_id='2479597' first='Mychal' last='Boyd'] (2026 Jefferson) - In a hard-earned win for [program_tooltip program_id='2242229' first='Portland' last='Reign'], Boyd was the man. The lead guard was as competitive as any player we saw all day, always looking to attack off the bounce on offense and putting great effort into guarding his man closely on the defensive end. More of a scorer than a shooter, Boyd was quick off the dribble and capably got to the hoop.

15U

Aayan Sharma (2027 James Logan-CA) - Sharma possessed one of the silkier smooth-looking jump shots and used that to scored a team-high 15 points in a win for Off the Dribble. Far from just a standstill shooter, the 5-foot-10 guard was able to put the ball on the floor a bit and wasn't afraid to go inside and score over bigger players, which will be more effective as he continues to develop physically.

[player_tooltip player_id='2389788' first='Lucas' last='Brownell'] (2028 Beaverton) - Brownell really caught our eye in 15U play - especially considering he's only an eighth grader. Currently on the smaller side at 5-foot-5, the Team Premier point guard was extremely quick on both ends of the floor, showed the ability to drive and finish with either hand, and was a complete pest with his on-the-ball defense, especially in the press.

LJ Davis (2028 Beaverton) - Another eighth grader, Davis also showed great quickness with his play. Offensively his bread and butter was his dribble pull-up, which he used early and often in a [program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'] win. A good athlete, he was able to utilize his athleticism to his advantage both on the boards and on defense against bigger players, and he spearheaded the full court pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='2388694' first='Kamarion' last='Andrade-Selden'] (2028 Mountainside) - Yet another young player from [program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'] that caught our eye was Andrade-Selden, who's a gifted offensive player for his age. He was able to hit shots both off the catch-and-shoot and off the dribble, and had the physical strength to get into the lane and score over bigger players. Like his teammates, he was very effective with his perimeter defense.
