Hustle Region Classic – Sharpshooters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The PrepHoops Circuit kicked off this weekend at sites around the country and the Hustle Region Classic at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA had plenty of competitive action. There were a number of guys that showcased themselves as perimeter snipers - here are a few that caught our eye.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Johnson Tran (2025 Mt Eden-CA/Off the Dribble 2025)</strong> - Tran was money when he was left open, whether it was catch-and-shoot in the corner or coming off a screen for the quick shot. Over the course of the weekend, he may have been the most consistent perimeter threat for Off the Dribble as they finished the 17U pool with an undefeated 4-0 record.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Denzel Jackson (2026 Mt Eden-CA/Off the Dribble 2026)</strong> - The lefty Jackson had one of those shooting strokes that would catch fire and result in multiple threes in a row. That was certainly the case on the first day of the Hustle Region Classic as he had ice in his veins, knocking down three from deep in the closing minutes as Off the Dribble hung on to a slim lead on to the win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Alexander Lynch (2025 Wells/[program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'] 2025)</strong> - While Lynch has the range to hit threes, his specialty came with the mid-range game. The rising senior from Portland constantly found the right spots to get to and get his shot off and ended up as one of [program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier']'s leading scorers over the weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2411676' first='Donovan' last='Miller'] (2026 Central Catholic/Team P.A.C.E. Black)</strong> - Long and lanky, Miller has one of those jumpers with an arc that seeminly goes sky high before dropping into the net with a swish. A rhythm shooter, he got hot early on in Team P.A.C.E. Black's final game of the event and nailed some threes from the corner.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2395636' first='Dylan' last='McGrain'] (2026 Jesuit/[program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'] 2026) </strong>- From what we saw, McGrain was just as capable operating off the catch-and-shoot or using the dribble to clear space for himself to get his shot off. The latter was certainly the case on Day 2 of the event as in the closing seconds, he created off the bounce and nailed a step-back three for the win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2388739' first='Michael' last='Mehta'] (2026 Valley Catholic/[program_tooltip program_id='2362747' first='Oregon' last='Premier'] 2026)</strong> - Seemingly every time we turned our head to look, it seemed like Mehta was draining a jumper. The rising senior did a great job of hitting wide open shots but also was capable of utilizing the dribble drive and pull-up to score as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Aayan Sharma (2027 James Logan-CA/Off the Dribble 2027)</strong> - The youngest player on our list, Sharma showed great touch from the perimeter in the game we saw, a win by Off the Dribble. Far from a standstill shooter, he was also able to get to the hoop and score as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
