This event features the best seniors in the state of Indiana serves as an unofficial tryout for the Indiana All-Star team. Let’s quickly take a look at some of the prospects who stood out the most at Sunday’s event.
This South Bend Riley wing had an outstanding senior season averaging a team-high 14.5 points per game for the 22-win Wildcats. Then, on Sunday, the Bethel signee showcased his versatile skill set and impressive athletic tools against some of the best players across the state. He shot the ball well from three-point range and used his size to finish at the end of his drives. Baird’s best basketball is likely ahead of him and is poised for a great career in the Crossroads League.
One of the top unsigned prospects left in Indiana’s Class of 2024, Book displayed his impressive physical and athletic tools at Sunday’s Top 60 Workout. Book is very strong at 6’8″ moves around so fluidly for his size. He can drive it left from the perimeter, spin around to finish at the rim, and play through small defenders with his strength. Look for a Division I school to take him as we get into the spring and summer months.
The more I watch Davis, the more I think Eastern Kentucky might have gotten a steal. He is going to be excellent in their up-tempo style of play and as he continues to shoot the ball better and better there will be no stopping him offensively. Davis has always been one of the most explosive drivers and all-around playmakers, but he also made 43 three-point shots this season at a 37.4% clip. He was excellent throughout the day at the Top 60 Workout as well displaying all of those skills that led to him averaging 25.1 points per game this season.
Marian is going through a coaching search currently which could lead to changes in their current recruiting class, but Gustin is currently signed to play for the Knights and stood out playing on his future home floor on Sunday. The versatile 6’7″ forward is a talented offensive threat with versatility to score in a lot of different ways. He is a high-upside prospect that shined while playing against high level competition at the Top 60 Workout.
Highlights
Sticking with our theme of future Crossroads League players, this Saint Francis signee was excellent on Sunday making a lot of tough shots off of the dribble while displaying excellent physical tools. Hood is a strong, athletic player at 6’4″ which makes him a consistent matchup problem on the perimeter. He can consistently score as a shooting threat or using his strength around the basket. We’ve always been high on Hood as a prospect here at Prep Hoops Indiana and he certainly looked good on Sunday.
Arguably the player that did the most for himself in terms of positioning for the Indiana All-Star team, Tornatta played extremely well at the Top 60 Workout at his future home of Marian University. The 6’8″ left-handed post is the best passing big man in the state and showed that off throughout the event. He also stepped out to make a couple of three-point shots and was physical on the boards. Tornatta is a really talented, consistent forward.
