This exciting event will showcase talented boys and girls youth basketball teams ranging from 10U to 17U. With competitive matchups and thrilling games, the tournament promises to be a fantastic display of youthful skill and passion for the game. Spectators can look forward to witnessing the future stars of basketball as they compete and showcase their abilities on the court. We pulled up on Saturday, to check out the talent. Here’s a look at some of our standouts.
Coming off a strong sophomore season Inocencio is a player we will be tracking closely. The scoring PG got to his spot easily, and showed the ability to score off the bounce, weaponizing his mid range. He showed knock down three point shooting ability, spraying open threes in catch and shoot action.
Simmons is a long athletic forward that was productive on both ends of the floor. Everything he did was explosive, including a couple monster blocks and thunderous dunks. The sophomore is a true vertical threat, as he caught and finished multiple lobs in the game I saw.
Highlights
The more and more I watch of the 2028 PG the more I’m impressed. He has some next level vision, showing the ability to see the game frames ahead. He was magnificent weaving through heavy defensive pressure, allowing him to unlock his super power of diming up teammates.
Highlights
I really liked Wall’s play this weekend. He played with a burst, quickly getting downhill and finishing. He was active on the defensive end, creating turnovers, generating easy transition buckets off them. On a talented squad the class of 2027 guard had one of the more polished games on the floor.
Zumaya has always had a powerful frame, he’s now added lean cut muscle. The extra muscle looked like it helped with his quickness and power, as he routinely defeated his initial defender, and finished through contact. Already known as a big time scorer, don’t be suprised if his PPG’s take a bump this Grassroots season.
Duke showed why he’s one of the most dynamic playmakers in the city. The lefty played with good quickness and wiggle. His ability to make some tough shots off 1 v 1 situations, allowed him to standout.
Always on the lookout for Snipers and Charbonneau was one of the top ones on the day. He was constant movement, and a consistent release as he burried a slew of threes in the game I watched. His ability to be shot ready, and get his shot off over fast closing defenders, easily made him one of the days standouts.
