ACBL: 5th Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Saturday March 30th I attended the&nbsp;<strong>ACBL</strong>&nbsp;hosted by Kenny Mullins located at the Glendale Prep.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I viewed 17U and 16U teams. I ended up watching exactly 11 teams of five 16U and six 17U.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are some All-League performances for the league.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These are based on the ONE game I viewed the team. These are NOT prospect rankings.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">We move over to the 5th Team Standouts</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2396140' first='JR' last='Moore'] Canyon View (AZ Venom 16) </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An active scoring guard can score and defend. He is a very good offensive rebounder and he can shoot it from the perimeter from the three point line off the catch. He plays hard on defense and is a very good rebounder for his size.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1445948' first='Brandon' last='Stapleton'] Chandler (AZ Gremlins 16)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger framed combo guard has the size, handle and length to make it tough to score on him. He is a very good passer and will make the smart play and doesn't force the issue. He can dribble to the basket with euros to score or get to the free throw line.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2396141' first='Kamaiu' last='Ortiz'] Palo Verde (Team RHJ 16)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A cerebral wing forward may not wow you with his size and athleticism but has a really good feel for the game and is a next level passer with needle threaders in the half court set or up the court ropes on a dime. He uses his body to his advantage and will spin off of the defender and score or facilitate. He will score thru contact in the paint, hit the three and he actually made a clutch free throw to win his game.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2396146' first='Ethan' last='Graves'] Palo Verde (Team RHJ 17)&nbsp;(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A very long power forward who plays with a motor and although somewhat raw, he has good hands to catch passes in traffic. He makes his money currently on the defensive end using his long wingspan to bother his opponents.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2136402' first='Marcos' last='Rodriguez'] Palo Verde (Team RHJ 17)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed scoring guard can play and defend a couple positions. He uses his strength to get in the paint but he wants to shoot it. He has a compact stroke from the three point line off the catch and can score with the pull-up J.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2176094' first='Samuel' last='Chukwuma'] Dream City (AZ Grind 17)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker power forward with long arms and strong hands to catch tough passes in the paint. He has a couple moves to utilize in the paint and will score on offensive rebound put backs using his girth and positioning.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1193884' first='Damien' last='Williams'] Chandler (AZ Gremlins 17)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A power forward with a high motor. He is a rebounder who defends many positions. He will defend on the perimeter plus inside. He will alter or block shots and primarily scores it around the rim.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
