The thrilling week of four State Tournaments commenced Wednesday morning. These players helped their stock climb with strong performances or a new-to-us display of agility.

In a loss, Brayden Hazelbaker Brayden Hazelbaker 6'0" | PG Maryville | 2026 State TN played exceptional, scoring 20 points on 9-19 FG. He did struggle with the deep ball (2-9 FG) and ultimately fouled out. The three steals and three assists look nice, though his four turnovers accounted for half of the team’s eight. Eight is a low number for a State Tournament game, especially one with 130 points scored between the two teams. Hazelbaker played point guard throughout, and four turnovers is not the end of the world.
Joel Bulis | Chattanooga Prep | ’26 PF
Joel Bulis was remarkably athletic at 6-foot-6 in a breakout game for him as Chattanooga Prep advanced to the state semifinals.
“Joel just came back to us,” said Chattanooga Prep Head Coach Christoffer Collins. “This is his third game back. He tore his growth plate in his knee before the season started. He has gone through his physical therapy. He put a lot of work in before the injury. It showed today. He is still out of shape, but I thought he played a phenomenal today.”
What is the typical role for Joel on Chattanooga Prep?
“Right now, we have him playing a 3-4-5, but today he hit a jump shot,” said Coach Collins. “He is more of a three-level scorer. The only thing we have to work on him with ball-handling and decision-making.”
Austin Jones | Chattanooga Prep | ’27 PG
Freshman Austin Jones scored 15 points in a win.
“Austin is one of our freshmen,” said Chattanooga Prep Head Coach Collins. “We pulled him up last year to play varsity. Austin could have been a starter. He had his ups and downs during the season. Averaging about 6 ppg earlier in the season and grabbing a ton of rebounds for us. This had to be his best performance all year today. In the tournament he has turned out to be the player we thought he was.”
Lawson Davenport | North Greene | ’25 PG
Davenport stands 6-foot-2, quite tall for a Class A point guard. It helps him, and the North Greene Huskies, that Jason Britton Jason Britton 6'1" | PG North Greene | 2024 State TN is a 2300+ point scorer, but Lawson is a strong player himself. He makes good reads. Does not get rushed. Cuts sharply away from the basketball. Lawson
Jarmon Brittman Jarmon Brittman 6'2" | SF Douglass | 2025 State TN | Douglass | ’24 PG
Elite rebounding performance for an elite rebounder. Jarmon scored 12 points in the first half, just 8 points shy of Austin-East’s entire team. Brittman fought for 4 rebounds. One offensive rebound he secured directly led to a layup make of his own.
