Leyton was the top scorer for a Queen Creek team this season that made it to the First Round of the 6A State Championship. He has a good ability to move off the ball in order to create an opportunity for a shot. While being effective in the Catch and Shoot game, he has a nice feel for pull-ups off the dribble and attacking downhill. He has a high motor and plays with grit. This past season he earned All-District 1st Team and All-Academic team where he had 39/37/90 shooting splits. Keep an eye out for him this upcoming AAU Season. He’ll play for the Arizona Grassroots 17U Gold team this year.
Zaire is coming off a season with San Tan Charter where they won the 2A State Championship. He averaged 13.6 ppg on 63/54/66 shooting splits. His form looks really clean and he knows how to space the floor well to give himself a good opportunity for a shot. He, at times, can shoot the ball off the dribble, as well from the three, but has a very streaky mid-range pull-up. Zaire closed the season out strong and I’m looking forward to see that transition to this AAU season.
Gage is a left handed guard who uses his quick handle to get into his shot. He has a scoring mentality in which he uses to score at all three levels. He has a quick release which prevents him being effected by contests. He does really well in the mid-range game and shoots it at a good clip from beyond the arc in catch and shoot situations. He is not afraid to create off the dribble as well. He averaged 19.5 ppg this past season with Shadow Ridge on 39/37/78 shooting splits. He is playing for Zona Nation this AAU season.
Rhys is a very streaky three point shooter. He looks to be very comfortable pulling 2-3 feet behind the line. He has a shifty handle which he uses to make some tough off-the-dribble shots. While he mainly uses his bag to get off the dribble shots, he is likely as effective in catch and shoot scenarios. Rhys averaged 15.5 ppg on 43/40/79 shooting splits with Eastmark this season where he also was on the 4A Juniors 2nd Team. Watch out for him this AAU season.
Hayden is a player who plays with purpose and intensity. He was a key role player for Notre Dame Prep averaging 38% from three. He has a quick release which allows him to get his shot off in tight spaces. He also has the ability to get his shot off the dribble from a screen as well. He is most successful in a pin-down, flare, and catch and shoot situations. Keep him on your radar this AAU season. He plays for the club team Phoenix Grind.
