SEMIFINALS:
Shepherd vs. Flint Powers Catholic
This is an intriguing game as there were really no comparative points to look at. I said to some people at a showcase way back in November that Powers Catholic was building something special. I’m willing to stick by that.
Prediction: Flint Powers Catholic
Saginaw vs. Saginaw Arthur Hill
This is a prime time matchup, with repeat of a final game of a historic rivalry. There are elite athletes and playmakers all over the floor in this one. Arthur Hill won by a score of 84-52 in the first matchup.
Prediction: Saginaw
FINALS:
Flint Powers Catholic vs. Saginaw Arthur Hill
Can I say “Pick em”? I won’t do that to you, but this does look like an instant classic. Powers Catholic took the first matchup in early January by a score of 72-67. If Arthur Hill can get their athletes in space and successfully force pressure on Powers, they can avenge the defeat.
Prediction: Flint Powers Catholic
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Colton Dysinger
Colton Dysinger
If Shepherd wants to beat Powers Catholic they’ll have to have tremendous guard play. Enter Colton Dysinger. He’s the go-to option as a scorer and can play both on or off the ball. Dysinger can be a factor on both ends of the floor as well. He’s the team leader in steals.
Ross has been ready for this season. I saw him play in the fall and he was intense and focused on maximizing the talent on the Powers roster this season. Ross is an electric guard that was named first team All-SVL. He can score and distribute and can play the game at any pace.
Highlights
Stevenson is a skilled guard that could have a big influence on who wins this regional. He’s known for his explosiveness on the offensive end with a fast first step and a jumper that he can groove. But it will probably be his perimeter defense where he can make the most impact.
