Continue ReadingOn Monday, March 18th we released our final update for the Class of 2024 Prospect Rankings before they graduate and move on to the college ranks. This is always a tough, time-consuming process as we at Prep Hoops Indiana pride ourselves on putting out the most thorough, and accurate, prospect rankings in the country. Along with the updated rankings we like to break things down a little deeper with stock-risers, new names, positional rankings, regional rankings, and much more. This gives us a chance to talk about as many of the prospects on an individual level as possible. Ultimately, that is what makes us unique at Prep Hoops. We don’t just put out rankings a few times a year because it drives traffic and subscribers. We aim to still provide valuable content along with the much-anticipated update. Here are eight prospects who moved the most in this final Class of 2024 Prospect Ranking.
Fugate just announced his commitment to hometown Indiana Tech less than 24 hours after our rankings update. The talented 6’5″ wing improved his ranking from #54 to #40 in this update after leading Fort Wayne North Side to another Sectional championship. He led the Legends in scoring averaging 16.6 points per game while also grabbing 5.8 rebounds. His mixture of length, athleticism, and skill level on the perimeter makes him a very intriguing prospect that should have a great career for the Warriors at the NAIA level.
One of the biggest stock-risers in this final Class of 2024 Prospect Rankings update, Gatlin had a breakout senior season for Cathedral. The long, 6’7″ forward averaged 7.3 points per game while shooting 39.7% from three-point range for the Fighting Irish. His combination of size and knockdown shooting ability makes him a really intriguing prospect. Gatlin jumped 45 spots in our rankings to #72 overall.
Homeschool prospects have a tendency to fly under-the-radar, but in Indiana we have several very talented players outside of traditional IHSAA basketball. Heaston, a 6’2″ shooting guard, scored over 2,000 points in his career for the Indianapolis Northside Lions and committed to Taylor University on March 1st. His continued strong play vaulted him up over 20 spots in our final update of the Class of 2024 Prospect Rankings.

When Evansville Harrison took the floor this season you could pretty much mark down their 6’6″ post player for a double-double. In fact, McNair averaged a double-double for the season with 17.9 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. The highly sought after small college prospect saw his ranking improve from #62 to #50 after his outstanding season which saw the Warriors win Sectional 16. Whoever lands him at the next level in the coming months is going to be getting a good one.
Highlights
One of the top scorers in southern Indiana this season, Nash had some monster games while leading the Borden Braves to a 15-9 record. His shooting ability helps to put pressure on the defense out well beyond the arc and then open up driving lanes for both himself and his teammates. Nash averaged 19.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game and was selected to attend the prestigious Top 60 Workout on April 7th.
Anytime a prospect jumps all of the way from the Watch List to Top 25 in the state it is fair to say that his ranking was either “wrong” before it is “wrong” now. Well, we aren’t too proud to say that we were probably wrong before. Or, to put it a better way, we simply just didn’t have a thorough enough evaluation on this 6’6″ forward from Kokomo. Rogers also deserves a lot of credit for getting better and having a monster senior season that could land him on the Indiana All-Star team. He finished the season averaging 17.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game for the Wildkats.
Smith just committed to Indiana Wesleyan minutes after we initially published this article after his outstanding senior season leading Lake Central High School to an 18-4 record. This 6’6″ forward has a high skill level that can stretch to the perimeter or score with his back to the basket while also being one of the better passing forwards in the state. He led the Indians in points, rebounds, and assists finishing with averages of 16.1, 8.5, and 4.2 per game. Smith’s ranking jumper over 20 spots from #73 to #52 overall in Indiana in this final update.
Walker burst onto the scene during last summer’s Prep Hoops Circuit and continued his strong play throughout his senior season at Warren Central High School. The 6’3″ guard has all of the physical and athletic tools for the next level while also being one of the best pure shooters still on the board in Indiana’s Class of 2024. College coaches need to make sure they have Walker on their list while finishing off their recruiting efforts. He improved from #85 to #71 in the final update of our prospect rankings.
