Continue ReadingThis is an important time of year for prospects to breakout. The playoffs offer different opportunities than the regular season. Some players are better breakout candidates than others. To breakout there has to be major room for growth in the rankings. In other words, this article isn’t centered around the elite prospects for each class. Rather, this is about who can see their ranking increase greatly with a strong second half of the playoffs.
Jaxson Joggerst Jaxson Joggerst 6'6" | PF Eureka | 2026 State MO (Eureka)
Joggerst is a player who has an opportunity to make a strong impression in the coming days. He’s a known forward in this class and brings a lot to the table. This playoff stage can truly show off his full range of abilities. At 6’7 he’s well built and showed he can stretch the floor. Cardinal Ritter has forwards built like him and winning his matchup will go a long way towards winning.
Keion Epps Keion Epps 6'0" | PG Springfield Central | 2025 State MO (Springfield Central)
Epps has been on a tear during the second half of the season. He’s a guy who can see a rise in the rankings, especially if he makes it back to Mizzou Arena. His team played Vianney there in December and this was a game where Epps shined. He’s comfortable under the bright lights. A dynamic scoring guard.
Will Paulson Will Paulson 6'5" | PF Francis Howell | 2025 State MO (Francis Howell)
Paulson is a player who transferred from Chaminade and now faces his former team. A 6’7 forward that’s skilled and plays on the perimeter. Playing against his old team and performing well would be a true stock booster. The game is set to be played on Saturday at 1pm. Chaminade has a tall and lively front line so performing well against that type of size would speak volumes about his ability.
Symon Ghai Symon Ghai 7'3" | C Vianney | 2026 State MO (Vianney)
Ghai is already highly regarded in this class but his breakout seems near. At 7’3 he’s learning how to defend with a higher basketball IQ. Ghai currently sits at 8th but he’s a guy who could legitimately be ranked 1st at some point in time. This is all connected to his skill development and progression. Could the playoffs be a stage for him to showcase even more development. We’re about to see.
DJ Johnson DJ Johnson 6'6" | SF John Burroughs | 2025 State MO (John Burroughs)
Burroughs is a talented team and their next 1, 2, or 3 games will all be tough. Most know about their frontcourt and senior PG, however, it’s Johnson who can be the difference. This is a team who can go on a surprising state run and they’ll need him to win his matchups. At 6’6 he’s a player who brings athletic ability and shooting to the floor. He has what colleges look for in a wing prospect; it’s just about putting it all together.
