The league consists of teams from the mid-atlantic in the states of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Here’s a look at part one of the all league selections of players from the NC and VA teams, as voted on by the league’s coaches.
Jaden Johnson | 6’1” PG | Fork Union
Co-Player of the Year/First Team
EPL Averages: 6 Games Played – 16.2 PPG, 6.3 APG, 6.2 RPG, 1.0 SPG – 43.7% FG – ATO – 3.5-1 – S2 POW, First Team All-Showcase Session 1, 2, 3 and 4
Johnson was the catalyst for the biggest turn around in the EPL in season 2, leading a FUMA team that finished last in year 1 to an undefeated 8-0 record in conference play and the tournament, winning the EPL outright. He won co-player of the year honors with his numbers above, but it was also the fact that there wasn’t anyone who controlled the success of his team they way he did. He was an ultimate leader and playmaker, took over when he needed to, made winning plays for his team on both ends of the floor and got the best of whoever was put in front of him.
Troy McKoy | 6’5” WG | Massanutten
Co-Player of the Year/First Team
EPL Averages: 5 GP – 30.8 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 4.6 APG, 1.6 SPG, 1.2 BPG – 50.5% FG / 32.4% 3FG- MOP – Session 1, 3 and 4. Second Team – Session 2
McKoy was voted co-player of the year for his shear dominance in EPL play, winning Most Outstanding Player in three of the four sessions and leading the league in scoring including an EPL record 53 points in their matchup with Combine. While he was noticeably one of the top scorers in the league, McKoy also showed his efficiency , rebounding, defending and playmaking ability throughout the course of the conference season as well. He’s an all-grit type of player who shows toughness on both ends of the floor, he can get downhill and score at will, he’s an ultra-competitive player who will do anything to win and through two years of the league holds a number of records in the EPL.
CJ O’Hara | 6’5” WG | Combine
First Team
EPL Averages: 6 GP – 21.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 2.0 APG, 2.0 SPG – 53.1% FG – First Team – Session 1, 2, 4/ 2nd Team – Session 3
O’Hara was the catalyst and leading scorer for this Combine team who made it to the National Prep Championship for the first time and made it all the way to the Final Four before falling in a close one to Putnam Science. O’Hara saw multiple schools come in throughout the season as he was one of the most consistent scoring wings in the EPL, showcasing his ability to score both within in the sets and create in isolation situations. He’s excellent late in shot clocks with his ability to get to spots in the midrange and score it, he’s an athletic and strong finisher at the rim, he can play on or off the ball and he’s a good defender as well.
Jamil Miller | 6’7” WF | Combine
First Team
EPL Averages: 6 GP – 16.2 PPG. 4.7 RPG, 1.3 SPG – 47.4% FG – Session 2 Breakout Player – 1st Team – Session 3
Miller was impressive throughout the season with a couple of big performances and a lot of highlight reel plays, but no one in postgrad basketball has seen their stock increase more than him since the National Prep Championship where he was their leading scorer on their Final Four run. The 6’7” Spokane, WA native showcased his high flying finishing ability and powerful downhill game, while also showing his improved ability to knock down shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce. He was one of the best players on the biggest stage of postgrad hoops and he showed consistent improvement throughout the year.
DeSean Goode | 6’8” PF/C | Fork Union
First Team
EPL Averages: 6 GP – 12.7 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 2.2 APG – 54.2% FG / 30% 3FG – S1 Breakout Performer
Goode was another catalyst for FUMA on their run to an EPL outright championship and a spot in the National Prep Championship, and while his numbers weren’t that crazy he did play through quite a few injuries with some games that hurt his averages. The 6’8” forward was huge for them in the EPL Championship, with his inside-out and fundamental play being a mismatch and causing trouble for other teams. He’s a winning player who makes all the right decisions and plays hard on both ends, he can guard multiple positions, knock down shots from deep and finish in the paint too.
Jayden Harris Jayden Harris 6'6" | SG Salisbury | 2024 State #220 Nation NC | 6’7” WF | Massanutten
Second Team
EPL Averages: 6 GP – 13.5 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.3 APG – First Team – Session 2 / 2nd Team – Session 1, Session 3
Harris is one of the most intriguing long term prospects in the EPL, as he has prototypical size and athleticism for the next level while also having a very unique skillset. While his averages weren’t that great in conference play, he had huge games all three times that Massanutten went to New England against the top prep teams in that area, showing his ability to score it in bunches and in a variety of ways. He can knock down shots from deep and gets hot quickly, he can put it on the deck and get downhill where he uses his size to finish and he can make plays for others as well.
Michael Wilson | 6’6” WF | Fork Union
Second Team
EPL Averages: 6 GP – 11.5 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.2 APG – 46.9% FG / 40% 3FG – 1st Team – Session 3, 2nd Team – Session 2
While Wilson didn’t get the attention that Johnson and Goode did, they don’t win the EPL without him as he stepped up big in some of their toughest games and was one of the best glue guys in the entire league. The 6’6” wing from Charlotte was super impactful on both ends of the floor, playing and guarding multiple positions and doing all the dirty work his team needed him to. He has a good all-around game with the ability to knock down shots from deep off the catch, post up smaller defenders and finish at the rim, play above the rim and get to the line quite a bit throughout the season.
