Patriots Hold Off Falcons:
Powdersville HS defeated Darlington HS 53-47 to win the Class 3A State Championship. The Patriots finished the season at (25-6) while the Falcons finished (26-5).
McGee Comes Up Big:
Jaleel McGee Jaleel McGee 6'1" | PG Powdersville | 2025 State SC really turned up his game down the stretch for the Patriots this season. McGee brought a ton of energy to the floor and a willingness to compete. Jaleel showed good body control attacking the basket. McGee finished with 18 points while going (8-10) on the free throw line to secure the victory.
Assemian Records Double-Double:
Hayden Assemian Hayden Assemian 6'8" | PF Powdersville | 2025 State #186 Nation SC is currently ranked #2 player in the 2025 Palmetto State Class. Assemian will take his talents to Columbia and the University of South Carolina after he’s done in high school. Hayden plays the game with a high motor and energy at all times. Assemian is a quick leaper off the floor and really shows to have great bounce. Hayden finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.
Dubose Plays Well in Loss:
Keenan Dubose Keenan Dubose 6'2" | CG Darlington | 2024 State SC played his last basketball game in a Falcons uniform today. Dubose will attend Presbyterian College (SC) to play football next season. Dubose finished with 27 points and 8 rebounds while taking some tough shots all day long.
Burton’s Bring Toughness:
Von Burton Von Burton 5'11" | SG Powdersville | 2025 State SC and Quan Burton Quan Burton 5'11" | PG Powdersville | 2025 State SC compiled just 10 points between the two of them today. The Burton Brothers were constantly in the middle of the action all day long with their toughness. They were on the floor for loose balls and making plays in the passing lanes. The Burton brothers have Head Coach Austin Anderson extremely happy. They will both be returning next season as seniors for the Patriots.
Falcons Needed More Green:
The Falcons really needed more production out of senior Michael Green Michael Green 6'8" | PF Darlington | 2024 State SC today. Green a slender-sleek forward finished with just 5 points today and really never got on track.
Moving on Up:
Darlington HS will move up to Region 5-4A next season. The Falcons will compete with the likes of Crestwood HS, Hartsville HS, Lower Richland HS, South Florence HS and Wilson HS.
