During those games, there were some notable performances on the hardwood. These were key performances that helped their team advance. In this PHLA playoff review, we will look at some of the players who helped their team advance to the next round.
Marcus Lofton Marcus Lofton 5'10" | PG Captain Shreve | 2025 State LA – The Captain Shreve point guard score 14 points in leading his team to their 41-37 victory over McKinley. It was the way he played the point that was most crucial in this win. Lofton flowed with the offense and found himself open on spot ups through ball movement. In the open floor, he kept his head up and disrupted the defense by pushing the ball until he scored or the ball was stopped. He may be on the smaller side but he is strong and very basketball-savvy. He is a point guard who can score which is very valuable at playoff time.
TJ Callahan TJ Callahan 6'0" | PG Episcopal | 2024 State LA – While Callahan is known for be one of the better knockdown shooters in Louisiana, in the Episcopal upset of Calvary Baptist, TJ showed an evolvement to his game. Instead of passing the ball to someone else and letting them drive, he put pressure on the defense himself. He showed an ability to split double teams well and get to the foul line. Of course he made the most of his wide open opportunities from deep. However, TJ showed that he is rounding into a complete guard which will only make him better.
Detreveon Lars – Lars has become a solid contributor to the Southwood offense as the season has gone. His 21 point effort in the win over Brother Martin showed that he is capable of making plays from various spots on the floor. Lars was great at the corner three. He is also very good at the one dribble pull-up from midrange. His ability to make those two shots helped lessen the offensive burden on Jeremiah Evans Jeremiah Evans 6'10" | C Southwood | 2024 State #249 Nation LA .
Eli Pichon Eli Pichon 6'1" | CG Brother Martin | 2024 State LA – While his team did not come out victorious, Eli put the players and fans in Southwood’s gym on notice that he is the real deal. He had a game high of 23 scoring from beyond the arc, drives to the basket, and in transition. Pichon is a true point guard and controlled the Brother Martin offense by putting guys into position and dribbling until finding teammates open for easy scores. His play showed that his game is very well-rounded and is suited for the next level.
Lance Clark Lance Clark 6'5" | PF Episcopal | 2024 State LA – A true matchup nightmare in the paint was Lance Clark Lance Clark 6'5" | PF Episcopal | 2024 State LA on Tuesday night. Calvary was minus their 6’10” big man Justin Houston Justin Houston 6'10" | PF Calvary Baptist | 2025 State LA and Clark made them pay. He was very decisive with his moves in the paint. He backed down both Calvary post defenders and made them defend short hooks and a mass amount of post moves. His defense was also very good. Clark walled up and used verticality to defend several drives from the Calvary guards. He may be a little small for a traditional post but he knows what he is doing in the paint.
