The 336’s Top Area Freshmen This Season

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After 15-20 games for teams at this point in the season, we've gotten a much better idea of who the immediate impact contributors have been in terms of freshmen making the immediate jump up to varsity. These guys don't get as much love as older, more established contributors at the HS level, but are showing why they'll be household names soon enough. He's one of the top freshmen in NC, scoring 17.6 PPG to lead his entire team so far. He's a volume scorer at this point who's taking any shot his team needs, and can either shoot it, drive it, or shoot pull-ups. He's been up and down which is expected for a freshman, scoring 20-25 points some games and 5 points the next, which is all very normal and expected from a freshman who is asked to score the ball a lot. He's started to increase his nightly numbers as we've gotten into the second half of the season, and has begun more to operate as a scorer than the rebounder and help side defender he stuck to being in the first part of the year. This makes him a load to handle on the interior, where he averages 8 points and 8 rebounds per contest. He's finishing well in the paint at a 59% clip, but will need to expand his scoring range from outside the basket and improve his ability to shoot foul shots over the next three years. He's only averaging 8 points per game, but has knocked down almost 2 threes per game at a solid 36% clip. Also a solid defender with a versatile frame and quick feet that can allow him to bother guards, wings, and forwards pretty similarly.
