This tournament started off with a loser-out game between #4 Blaine and #5 Mount Baker. The 5th seeded Mounties took home the win, 65-54, advancing to play #1 Lynden Christian. #4 Blaine was eliminated with the loss.
For the first round of this tournament we had #1 seed (and back to back 1A state champ) Lynden Christian playing #5 Mount Baker and #2 Nooksack Valley playing #3 seed Meridian. The winners of these games would advance to the District 1 1A championship game and the losers would advance to the loser out side of the bracket. #1 Lynden Christian easily took care of #5 Mount Baker, 78-35. #3 Meridian would pull off the upset against #2 Nooksack Valley, 67-62.
This next round included the District 1 1A class championship game and a loser-out game, ending a teams season. For the championship game, #1 Lynden Christian defeated #3 Meridian, 71-58. Lynden Christian will advance to start, earning one of the 2 bids from this district. Meridian will get another chance for a bid to state by playing the loser of #2 Nooksack Valley and #5 Mount Baker. In that game, Nooksack Valley would win 66-47 and will advance to rematch Meridian for a chance at state.
In both teams’ last chance at the 1A state tournament, #2 Nooksack Valley took on #3 Meridian. Meridian would take the victory, barely, by a score of 67 to 65, earning a bid to the state tournament. It was an eventful ending, with junior Talon Jenkins Talon Jenkins 6'6" | SF Meridian | 2025 State WA hitting a game tying 3 pointer with 15 seconds left. The next possession by Nooksack Valley was sloppy as Meridian’s Taran Burks got a steal and found senior Cohen Fuller down court and he secured the win with a fast break layup as time expired.
