One of the breakout stars in 2023-24 has undoubtedly been [player_tooltip player_id='1110573' first='Jackson' last='Owens']. After spending the last couple of years as a key support guy to others, the now senior took the baton of leadership this season and he's more than run the race. The hard-working 6-foot-4 swingman has put together a final high school season worthy of Warriors lore and it's been a reward of all the blood, sweat, and tears he's put into his craft.

"I just always stayed in the gym working on my shot and making sure I'm doing everything," Owens said. "Just trying to be a factor in all parts of the game, offense and defense, and just be the best teammate possible with a lot of energy."

Always known for his high motor and competitiveness on the court, Owens has used the opportunities given to him to be a leader both on and off the court. On the floor, he's used his three-level scoring and mastery of the bank shot to get plenty of buckets, to the tune of almost 24 points per game, one of the top averages in all of 6A. In fact, on senior night he was presented a game ball for surpassing the 1000 career point mark, and went on to add another 22 points in a big win over Grant.

"This place is really special to me and all my friends who are on the team - we've been playing together since like third grade in this gym," Owens said after the game. "And to come and beat Grant, it's a huge win."

Thanks to his exploits, college programs have been calling. A high-academic performer, Owens earned a roster spot offer from Pacific University in Forest Grove and other D-III programs have been in touch, many from the Northwest Conference like Linfield, Lewis & Clark, Pacific Lutheran, and Puget Sound. A number of junior college schools in the NWAC have also inquired. At this point, he's keeping all his options open.

"I just want to find a good education and a coaching staff that will support me," Owens said. "I would like to be a part of winning program. I'm still figuring it out and will be talking to my family and coaches to see what the best option for me is."

The reason he's not too focused on his recruitment - Cleveland still has games left to play. The Warriors have qualified for the post-season and while they open up with a road trip down to South Medford, Owens feels plenty of positivity.

"Everyone's just been getting confidence," Owens said. "The start of the year, not a lot of people had confidence and they just wouldn't shoot the shots they normally shoot and now we've been playing together. Team chemistry is on point right now and we've been on a roll recently, so we've really come together. We can take it as far as we want - once we're on a roll, we're on a roll and one of the harder teams to stop in the state."

Owens currently ranks as the #27 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2024 rankings.
