Ethan Vahl Ethan Vahl 6'1" | PG Thompson Jr. | 2028 IL 2028 6’2 Thompson Jr. High (IL)
This was my third time seeing Vahl and as a player. He continues to impress me with his basketball knowledge and skillset. Ethan shot the ball from well beyond the three-point line and attacked off the dribble when guarded tight. An underrated part of his game is his passing ability and how well he sees the court. Vahl had several dimes on the day. I expect Ethan to be an instant impact player in high school next year.
Anfernee Moore 6’2 Peoria Christian Lutheran (IL)
Moore is a player who stands out right away when the ball is tipped. He’s athletic with size and handle. Anfernee did his damage from all three levels of the court. Hitting shots with defenders right in his grill. As he got warmed up he had a couple of explosive moments where he would take defenders off the dribble and dunk on them. As I looked for where he’s from it was no surprise that Peoria would have some more players to emerge from the area. Moore is another player who can impact the high school game right away.
AJ Gnewuch 6’4 St. James Catholic (WI)
AJ is a prospect who I watched shred guys in 3 on 3 play and later did the same in the 5 on 5 matchups. He’s a player with the size that shows lots of versatility on the court. AJ can score off the bounce and is very comfortable out on the wing. He plays with the right energy and is even more dangerous when using his length. Gnewuch is a player I expect to be a top prospect in Wisconsin over the next four years.
Vinny Corrado 6’4 Westfield Community (IL)
Corrado is a player who has tons of upside in his game. He has the length to guard multiple positions and is skilled enough to play the guard or forward spot. Vinny caught my attention because he rebounded the ball so well but is very good at starting transition plays. He made the right decision most of the time to either score or drop the pass off to a teammate. Corrado showed he can shoot on the perimeter banking in a pair of threes. He has the look of a future high school basketball star.
John Morgan 6’4 Lundahl Middle (IL)
The twin brother of Ryan Morgan was a force in the paint. He used his size and footwork around the rim to dominate in the paint. As an 8th grader it’s rare to see a player who moves so well and understands positioning in the paint. What I like about John is that he can shoot but is also a solid passer. As a defender he moves his feet and carves out space to rebound the ball. I wish I could say it is rare to find a player like him but he has a twin brother.
Ryan Morgan 6’4 Lundahl Middle (IL)
The twin brother of John Morgan has the same game qualities but shoots the ball well on the perimeter. Ryan can attack off the dribble and is also a solid passer for his size. If his brother was Jokic like Ryan would be Cameron Krutwig. A reliable forward who is dangerous in pick-and-pop situations at the top of the key. He and his brother showed flashes of ball handling as they both started fast breaks once they got defensive rebounds. As they both noted they will attend Crystal Lake South next season and I would like to see how their games will translate to high school together.
