Player of the Year Finalists

As we approach the playoffs it is getting near the time of awards season as well!  Prep Hoops Illinois annually gives out our player of the year.  We have narrowed the 15 mid-season semifinalists to the 5 finalists.  We are proud to unveil the Prep Hoops Illinois Player of the Year Finalists in alphabetical order!

Angelo Ciaravino Angelo Ciaravino 6'6" | SF Mt. Carmel | 2024 State #160 Nation IL (Mt. Carmel)

Ciaravino has had a meteoric rise over the last year. He went from solid mid-major prospect to no doubt high-major prospect and has played like it this season. The Northwestern commit is a top 5 prospect and when he has been on the floor this year he has been a force. Athletic small forward that can really shoot the ball from distance and is a high level athlete throwing down some of the best dunks of the season. He is looking to lead the Caravan to a title in March!

Carlos Harris Carlos Harris 6'1" | SG Curie | 2024 State #283 Nation IL (Curie)

What a year it has been for the UIC commit!  He has been phenomenal putting his team on his back and carrying them all season long.  Harris just finished off a spectacular regular season with a city championship where he was the best player on his future home floor for college.  Kid is a winner!  Physical downhill slasher that defends and impacts the game in so many ways.

Morez Johnson Morez Johnson 6'9" | PF Thornton | 2024 State #33 Nation IL (Thornton)

Johnson is the top prospect in the state and has been a dominant force for a Thornton team that is looking to win a state championship in March!  One of the best rebounders the state has seen since the Cliff Alexander/Jahlil Okafor days.  He is dominant on the glass and can score with athleticism at the rim along with a much improved face up jumper.  Force on the defensive end as well!  Committed to Illinois.

Cooper Koch Cooper Koch 6'8" | PF Metamora | 2024 State #81 Nation IL (Metamora)

The Iowa Hawkeyes signee fits in perfectly with Metamora as a senior is looking better each and every game.  Skilled four man that stretches the floor with his shooting.  He has touch around the basket and can really pass it!  Koch joined a team that won the 3A crown a year ago.  He gives them a real shot to go back to back in Champaign.  After a few early losses they have rolled the competition heading into the tournament!

Lathan Sommerville Lathan Sommerville 6'9" | C Richwoods | 2024 State #85 Nation IL (Peoria Richwoods)

The Rutgers commit moved back to the state and been an absolute force from the first game! One of the most physically dominating players the state has seen in recent years with his huge frame, powerful finishing ability, and how well he moves. Big time rebounder and has improved his face up game. Made Richwoods a legit contender for a title in March!
