And, I couldn’t think of a specific skill he sorely lacks. Outside shooting is weaker than slashing, sure, but he hit a three-pointer in the first quarter in his first attempt. And he hit a three-pointer to open the second half too. On the season Jackson Jr. is hitting at 40% (23-57) from deep, so what is the problem?
“Honestly, his mentality is what has held him back,” postulated Columbia Academy Head Coach Jarrett Jones. “He is a very nice, very good kid. He is very unselfish. I think his approach, a lot of times has been…it looks like he is afraid of the moment. He just wants to make the right decision. He has to understand that, a lot of the times, HE is the right decision. He is a monster right now. His confidence in himself is sky high.”
I was able to catch up with Jeremy Jackson Jr. Jeremy Jackson Jr. 6'3" | SG Columbia Academy | 2025 State TN a couple of hours after the game through a phone call, and asked him how his confidence is right now.
“Very confident,” said Jeremy Jackson Jr. Jeremy Jackson Jr. 6'3" | SG Columbia Academy | 2025 State TN “I think my coach believes in me and my team believes in me.”
Athletically, Jackson Jr. was always around the head of the class, and as Coach Jones says, “all of his weaknesses he is closing them up.”
State Championships are not unfamiliar to Bulldog Nation. They won it all in 2019 with Carson Cary, Sky Polk, Eli Hyle, and the guys. What are the aspirations for this bunch? Can they win state?
“Yes sir,” said Jackson Jr. “When we have the right mindset and energy, I don’t think anyone in the state can play with us.”
Jackson Jr. and the whole team played well in demolishing Clarksville Academy, 62-46. And they will enjoy their playoff run, but above the fold the featured story is Jeremy Jackson Jr. Jeremy Jackson Jr. 6'3" | SG Columbia Academy | 2025 State TN is Making a Play for Top 5!
“He can finish at the rim,” rattled off Coach Jones. “He can defend. He rebounds. He creates shots…That has been the frustration, ‘Why aren’t people on him?’ Since Christmas he has been that dude.”
