Robinson ran the show against Hillsborough on Wednesday as he distributed the ball and made some key plays on defense with his quick hands. He displayed his high IQ and playmaking ability by looking for mismatches in the post while looking to find open shooters on the wings. He came away with two impressive steals with one in the first quarter being a clean strip/takeaway as he took off on the fastbreak once he came up with the ball. Robinson put up 11 points along with dishing out 8 assists securing the victory against Hillsborough.
Culuko did everything he could against Vernon as I watched him put up a stellar 31 points in a hard-fought loss. Culuko was everywhere on offense and hitting many difficult shots in the process. Just by watching him for the first couple of drives, you knew he was going to have a big night. He was particularly effective in the fastbreak flying up and down the court and hitting tough layups over multiple defenders. Culuko raked in 3 threes as well having just an all-around game from an offensive standpoint.
Highlights
Barkley was a force on the court in all areas of the ball against a dominant win versus Mount Olive 27-72. The catch-and-shoot game was in full effect as he was able to hit 3 quick shots from behind the arc off of some slick passes from his teammates. Barkley was able to work the midrange game as well as get to the rim whenever the opportunity presented itself. He finished with 26 points along with pickpocketing 2 steals in the process.
Pantaleon had himself a game versus Bloomfield stuffing the stat sheet with 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 steals. The 6’4″ power forward looked to attack the basket any chance he got. On the fastbreak, he hit the defense with a filthy euro-step multiple times creating great separation for the easy layup. Pantaleon’s tenacious rebounding skills gave his team many second-chance opportunities. His defensive skills are just as great as his offense as he was able to switch onto anyone on the perimeter or inside which helped him come up with those 4 steals.
Simmons put up a near triple-double against Passaic Tech with his stat line being 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. Simmons dominated in all areas of the court keeping his team in full control over a close 44-46 win. He got into the paint and forced the referees to call the foul when going up to the rim. He controlled the midrange game and looked to dish it out to open shooters on the wing or baseline cutters going to the rim. Simmons’s defense was also a major factor as to how Paterson Kennedy won with him getting 2 steals and 2 blocks having himself just an all-around spectacular game.
