Feb 19-24: Junior Standout SG/F’s

The games I viewed were on Monday I watched&nbsp;<strong>Eduprize&nbsp;</strong>defeat&nbsp;<strong>Bella Vista Select 64-45</strong>&nbsp;in the CAA Final-4 Wednesday I watched&nbsp;<strong>Canyon View&nbsp;</strong>defeat&nbsp;<strong>Cholla 92-56.&nbsp;</strong>Friday I viewed&nbsp;<strong>Rancho Solano Prep&nbsp;</strong>defeat&nbsp;<strong>Arizona Lutheran 54-47&nbsp;</strong>in the 2A Semis,&nbsp;<strong>San Tan Charter&nbsp;</strong>defeat<strong>&nbsp;Phoenix Christian 55-39</strong>&nbsp;in the 2A Semis and&nbsp;<strong>Basha</strong>&nbsp;defeat&nbsp;<strong>Desert Mountain 78-68</strong>&nbsp;in the OPEN Elite-8.&nbsp;Finally on Saturday I viewed&nbsp;<strong>San Tan Charter&nbsp;</strong>defeat&nbsp;<strong>Rancho Solano Prep 69-54</strong>&nbsp;to win the 2A Chip and&nbsp;<strong>Valley Christian</strong>&nbsp;defeat&nbsp;<strong>Gilbert Christian 81-65&nbsp;</strong>to win the 3A Chip.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the Junior SG/F Standouts from the week</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1613047' first='Jules' last='Randy'] Bella Vista Prep (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong four-man is a high flying athlete. He is a strong two-handed rebounder and uses his length and bounce to throw it down. He scores it primarily around the hoop and is very active the closer he gets to the basket.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1580843' first='Jayden' last='Johnson'] Rancho Solano Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong and athletic power forward is a beast on the glass. He scores on offensive rebound put backs out of his area and is improving as a three point shooter off the catch. He will also run the court and block shots.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1379909' first='Carson' last='Grier'] Valley Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A unique point forward type with elite size. He is a phenomenal passer up the court, he rebounds well and plays a very unselfish game. He collects steals in the passing lanes and his overall feel is extremely high to make a play for a teammate.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1379910' first='Kyle' last='Grier'] Valley Christian&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled forward can score on jump hook shots, turn around jumpers, deep threes and is quick to play the passing lanes to collect steals. He shields himself to not get blocked on the break and he is an out of area rebounder.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2107106' first='Andre' last='Thomas'] Eduprize</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An athletic power forward is a supreme shot blocker in and out of his area. He made a couple eye popping blocks and gobbled up all balls off the glass to rebound. He can also step out and shoot it.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1306055' first='Jibril' last='Mcdonald'] Bella Vista Prep&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long and taller scoring guard. The lefty has a polished floater and can blow by his defender with a nice burst. He has a pretty shooting stroke from the FT line and can crow hop to the basket to score or get fouled. He uses his length and size to play the passing lanes.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2091943' first='Ezbon' last='Hassan'] Bella Vista Prep&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A wing forward is hyper athletic. He is a rare rim runner at his size and loves hanging out in the dunker spot. He can get downhill and uses his incredible length to block shots and to rebound. He is fast in transition in the open court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1371095' first='Noah' last='Oliver'] Canyon View&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker framed guard had a big night off the bench. He can score on catch threes, score thru traffic, he has a floater game and loves getting downhill. He was hustling all night to get on the glass for rebounds and loose balls. He scored 17 points.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2357161' first='Jaden' last='Standifer'] Cholla</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A big post player who just started playing the game in the last two years. He has good strength and length to alter shots and to rebound. He has a soft touch on his free throws and even showed a drop step plus a hook shot showing real long term potential. He scored 10 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1469397' first='Kylen' last='Bonner'] San Tan Charter&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard with long arms. He can score with a quick burst to the basket and will hit the catch three in rhythm. He uses his wingspan and quickness to defend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1446106' first='Jace' last='Olson'] Gilbert Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger scoring guard kept the game close and at one point they were actually winning off of Olson's hot shooting. He will rebound well and will score on put backs. He cuts when he should and he can pull-up from mid to the three. His three ball and his size for position has him climbing up the rankings. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
