All of that culminated in the final game taking place at West Chester University, featuring Unionville and Upper Dublin. So here’s a recap of the District 1 5A title game via the standouts.
James Anderson James Anderson 6'2" | CG Unionville | 2024 State PA | 6’2 G 2024 Unionville
After getting into the scoring column with an early triple, Anderson spent the rest of the game concentrating on breaking Upper Dublin’s press. The main way he did so was with baseball passes across the court. Everytime it looked like he was trapped, Anderson would suddenly find Brown or Charlie Kammeier for three. JT got the ball to them in the halfcourt too, in addition to hitting a step-back three of his own. The fearless point guard finished the game with 12 points, 6 boards, and 7 assists.
Ryan Brown Ryan Brown 6'3" | CG Unionville | 2024 State PA | 6’2 G 2024 Unionville
Brown had 10 points through the first three quarters, most notably scoring on a couple putbacks. But after he got fouled on a fourth-quarter three (and made all 3 free throws), he was white hot. UD kept pressing so Brown kept scoring. He cut to the hoop for a lay and drilled three more treys for 14 of the team’s 24 points in that period. The marksman totaled 24 points (4 threes, 6/7 FT) and 4 rebounds as the Longhorns secured the district title.
Nick Diehl Nick Diehl 6'6" | SF Unionville | 2024 State PA | 6’6 C 2024 Unionville
Without any highlight plays, Deihl was instrumental in the big win. Not only did his presence in the middle deter drives, it also kept the Cardinals off the glass. Moreover, when Deihl did get some resistance while working the glass, he took care of business. The Tulane baseball commit reeled in 15 boards, quantifying his impact inside. Offensively, he operated as a safety valve versus the full court press and chipped in 12 points around the basket.
Charlie Kammeier added in 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals as well.
Ryan Mulroy Ryan Mulroy 6'3" | SF Upper Dublin | 2025 State PA | 6’4 W 2025 Upper Dublin
The game didn’t go as planned, but that didn’t stop Mulroy from getting after it. The competitive junior wing chased shooters off the line and contested shots, despite his own not falling for the first three periods of the game. Still his sense of urgency didn’t wane. Mulroy came out in the fourth and knocked a tough pull-up jumper for two. Then he kept attacking, scoring 10 of his 11 in the final quarter.
