TJ and his team exited the playoffs early as Lee-Huntsville ended their season. TJ and his crew did not go down without a fight, and TJ will be suiting up one more time next year. TJ is very athletic and thrives in the open court, as he finishes well at and above the rim. He has a high motor and doesn't take plays off. He plays a physical brand of basketball, which makes some opponents uncomfortable. He had it going against Lee as he finished with 19pts and 7reb.

In a close 49-45 victory over Pell City, Jeremy was dynamic on the offensive end as he finished with 29pts. He is one of the reasons why teams are afraid of this Shades Valley team as the playoffs have begun. It is really simple when it comes to Jeremy, and that is, he is a bucket. He is a tremendous finisher in the paint and at the rim, and his outside shooting continues to improve. He is a tough iso scorer who is a beast when slashing his way through defenses, and he is good at finishing and finding open teammates. His play elevates his team offense, as was the case against Pell City.

Trey and his brother put on a shooting clinic during their match-up against Woodlawn to kick off area tourney play. I couldn't wait to drop this article and let everyone know that while [player_tooltip player_id='1091949' first='Ty' last='Davis'] had 6 trey balls, Trey knocked down 7, and neither one of them is the best shooter in the family. Keep an eye out for their little sister, Avery Davis. All joking aside, if Mountain Brook can get shooting like this from the Davis brothers night in and night out, they could be eyeing a deep playoff run. They will match up against Shades Valley on Wednesday, Feb. 7, for the area tourney championship.

Ryan is a tough young backcourt talent who left it all on the floor against Oak Mountain. He caught my eye several times as he made winning plays on both ends of the floor throughout the game. He was extremely crafty off the bounce and showed his ability to score at all levels. He is a pesky defender who made ball-handlers work the entire length of the floor. Not sure how many seniors Hewitt has graduating but the rock will be in good hands for the next two years with Ryan on the court.

Grey was very instrumental in the come-from-behind victory over Hewitt Trussville. He played a very mature game and never allowed his team to drop their heads as he made plays or assisted on plays, sparking the comeback. His playmaking ability was on full display as he showed his ability to score and create for teammates off the bounce. He is a competitor that gives Oak Mountain a chance in every game they play going forward.

Reid is a frontcourt talent with size and length. He anchors the middle for Hewitt and it was no different as his squad went up against Oak Mountain. Reid showed a lot of aspects to his game, as he can face up in the high post area and attack off the bounce. He showed that he can score off the low block, score it from mid-range, and even has range from behind the arc. He rebounded the rock at a high rate and was a huge factor on the glass. I will be reaching out to Reid in the next several days to get an update on his recruitment.

Colben is a swingman with elite-level versatility. His ceiling is not even in sight right now, as he can do so many things on the court. He is a gifted scorer, can facilitate the offense, rebounds, creates for others, and is a willing defender. I'm not sure how many he finished with in the win against Vestavia, but he impacted the game not just in the scoring column but across the stat sheet. He is very athletic and has the physical tools and the tenacity to compete. Looking at Colben during the Vestavia game, he showed that the game has slowed down for him, and he is ready to show the state why he is one of the top in his class.

Ty has had ink on him for years, and I haven't put much on him this year as the state knows who he is. As he is definitely in the running for Mr. Basketball. His 6 trey balls, along with his younger brother's 7, was a storyline I couldn't let slip away. Making a high number of treys in one game is nothing new for Ty and is something we know he can do on any given night. His offensive repertoire continues to improve, but his leadership ability has emerged and impressed me the most.
