The Chattanooga area runs out some of the best players in the state, consistently producing college players. Friday many Chattanooga and Chattanooga-area teams clashed. Read about top players from each.

McCallie (68) @ Red Bank (53)

[player_tooltip player_id='1551289' first='Jaylen' last='Rice'] (Red Bank) finished a tricky layup in transition over a taller McCallie player. Teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1140748' first='Kendrick' last='Lloyd'] earlier muscled up and in and and-1. Smaller, Red Bank played without fear. [player_tooltip player_id='1720187' first='Anthony' last='Bonner'] collected an offensive rebound off his teammate's missed layup and quickly put it back.

Bonner finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

McCallie played some young guards, namely Andrew Smith (2026) and [player_tooltip player_id='1719620' first='Ryan' last='Wingard'] (2027). Wingard took and missed two open three-pointers in the heat of it. His ceiling is absurdly high. Keep an ear open for his progress in the years to come.

Conversely, Red Bank's guards were veterans. Lloyd intercepted several passes and instinctively surged up the floor towards the basket. [player_tooltip player_id='1140748' first='Kendrick' last='Lloyd'] gifted the game with the most energy and fight of any single player. He managed to secure a rebound over [player_tooltip player_id='2166966' first='Kenneth' last='Chime'], a future D2 forward, and flung the ball ahead to a speedy [player_tooltip player_id='1551289' first='Jaylen' last='Rice'], who finished an unchallenged left-handed layup.

[player_tooltip player_id='1140748' first='Kendrick' last='Lloyd'] (Red Bank) finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

The hosting Lions took great care of the basketball, almost never losing control. McCallie's only certainty offensively came when Chime caught a post pass. He was bouncy and relentless against obviously undersized defenders. Often he took two or three short layups because he was quick to react to his short misses...and he was quite a bit taller than the Lion frontcourt.

When Chime sat, due to foul trouble, the visiting Blue Tornado failed to control their defensive glass. Offensive rebounds ignited the hungry Lions and their young, courtside fans screamed in appreciation if and when any of those offensive rebounds turned into points.

2nd Half

Bryce Kennebrew (McCallie) comfortably hit a three-pointer 19' in the first minutes of the second half. With a backdoor cut he found himself at the free throw line less than a minute later after Red Bank fouled him. That's two more. Bonner fouled Chime, who made a tough layup and-1 on the subsequent offensive possession. Red Bank lost their ability to get stops ats the second half opened.

Ooltewah @ Chattanooga Central

Center [player_tooltip player_id='2346463' first='Jonathan' last='Kusmiy'] (Ooltewah) scrapped and invested for his Owls. They just did not have the dogs that the Central Pounders did. Jonathan entered the game as a 10-11 guy. Every single rebound war involved his arms, his body. He poured his entire body and soul into it.

For Central, [player_tooltip player_id='2780949' first='Keyonte' last='Powell'] was a key player.

Chattanooga Christian School (60) @ Bradley Central (91)

[player_tooltip player_id='1296308' first='Reid' last='Conley'] (CCS) crossed over with his left-hand to the right wing and lofted a smooth three-point make, barked at the Bradley Central student section and jogged back down the court. His high-class three made the game 40-26 Bradley Central, hardly a competitive contest, but it was a smooth maneuver all the same.

[player_tooltip player_id='1389705' first='Ramireon' last='Taylor'] (Bradley Central) buried a crowd-elevating three-pointer in the second quarter.
