[player_tooltip player_id='1259390' first='Rodney' last='Henderson'] III, one of the best point guards in Tennessee, tried to muscle his Tyner Academy Rams back into the game. Along the way he made nine free throws in the third quarter alone! He charged to the rim with powerful shoulders and endured whacks and bumps. All this he did for his beloved Rams, but the made free throws did little to cure a 31-point half-time deficit.

The meeting of two powerful programs Friday was supposed to a high-scoring war, determining the best public school squad Chattanooga had to offer in 2023-2024.

Halfway through Chattanooga Prep led 41-10. In a gym full of hype, talent, and excitement only one team played to their potential in the deterministic first half. Tyner played more efficiently in the second half, but it mattered little down 30ish.

[player_tooltip player_id='1838577' first='Ta'Suade' last='Williams'] (Chattanooga Prep) hit a corner three-pointer seconds into the second half. Williams finished with a game-best 16 points. Teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2238576' first='Derrick' last='Roberson'] matched those 16 points. In fact, Roberson managed 10 points in the first quarter, the same as Tyner's entire team put up in the whole first half!

Tyner Academy falls to 11-3 on the season. Their three-game losing streak ends, but Chattanooga Prep is not a 2a team nor a district opponent. The bragging rights relinquished and local pride might weigh on the Rams. Still this loss will not effect their district aspirations.

[player_tooltip player_id='1259390' first='Rodney' last='Henderson'] (Tyner) scored 11 points. Micah Allen (Tyner) helped with 11 points, but 8 of them came in the fourth quarter will after the game was decided.
