One. The Solomon Touch. Hiawatha College junior Kam’Ron Solomon is one player that I could see fly up the recruiting charts. At 6’3 his shooting touch is outstanding. The way he steps into a quick releasing jumper with the type of form that we’ve long been told is picturesque, I could see some big things coming to him on the scholarship level. His ability to catch and hit in a small window looked special against Minnehaha and the quickness as to which Kam’Ron was able to score off one dribble with a balanced lift or even an unbalanced one foot life was something that will stay with me. I’d also like to point out the stoic demeanor that he would hit shots with and then get back on defense. He scored 40 points and the few times he let himself get excited with a three fingers out, even that was close to his chest as it looked like he wanted to be focused on getting back and playing defense. For the game Solomon had 40 points on 14 of 25 shooting including eight threes. He is scoring 28 points a game this year shooting 46 percent at the arc. Again, a name to remember moving towards that top ten.
Two. Versatile Norsman. I was really surprised by everything George Norsman George Norsman 6'5" | SF Minnehaha Academy | 2025 State MN offered his team in the loss. He handled the ball at times and was a good passer all over the floor. He was physical on the glass and finishing. He faced up and scored and went to the rim and took contact and scored. At 6-foot-5 as a four man Norsman gave his team so many different things which was the biggest thing that stood out to me from the Redhawks.
Three. Watkins in Support. Senior Domonick Watkins of Hiawatha Collegiate is a player I really like. He scores 20 a night and pretty much hit that total with 19 on 7 of 14 shooting against the Redhawks. Why was he better than his man? Because he out-worked his man. Watkins was all business at all times working hard on both ends. He’s a player that I would surely recommend some D3 teams and some of the local junior colleges check out. I really liked his approach.
Four. The King. Hiawatha Collegiate 6’6 freshman King James is so interesting to me. For one, love the last name. And to add King to the front of our last name, even better. James played with a lot of energy and when he made plays he was definitely excited. I don’t know that you would have to worry about him not being engaged. He had 17 points and a dozen boards not to mention a number of quality passes from the block and near the high post. I am really interested to see how he develops. James and sophomore Ludy Webster are the future of the program.
Five. The King II. The Redhawks fell to 8-10 but I did like how Norsman and frontcourt partner Kingston Manning Kingston Manning 6'4" | PF Minnehaha Academy | 2025 State MN competed for their team. Manning is a 6’4 frontcourt junior that had some short jumpers, that scored actively and rebounded decent from what I could tell. Minnehaha doesn’t have a huge frontline but they have an active one that I think could be really good for them the rest of this year and into next season.
