PHD has updated the Class B Power Rankings after another entertaining week of basketball in North Dakota.

We are coming to the end of January, it feels like this month has flown by. Once we get to February, the intensity gets turned up and you can sense more urgency as the post-season is right around the corner.

This week in Class B, the top squads stay put. We did have a couple of upsets and some movement, so you will want to look below for more details and info.

#1 Bowman County (11-0)

Recent: W 75-40 Flasher, W 80-41 Richardton-Taylor, W 88-34 Belle Fourche, SD

The Bulldogs had a dominant week, their average scoring margin was 37.3! Bowman is a salty squad that gets after it on defense and they are an offensive juggernaut. Against Flasher, the Bulldogs were led by [player_tooltip player_id='1144932' first='Bohden' last='Duffield'] with 24 points, [player_tooltip player_id='1144931' first='Bishop' last='Duffield'] 16 points, Gavin Lambourn 10 points, and Nate Dix went for 7 points.

#2 North Star (11-0)

The Bearcats look to be back to their dominant ways. They showed out and took care of business against the Mustangs and Cardinals. In the Midway-Minto game, North Star had some noteworthy performances. [player_tooltip player_id='1367009' first='Parker' last='Simon'] led the way with 20 points and brother [player_tooltip player_id='1367010' first='Karsen' last='Simon'] chipped in 13. [player_tooltip player_id='1324683' first='Dane' last='Hagler'] had a productive night and went for a Triple-Double (15 pts, 14 reb, 10 asst). In the blowout win over Carrington, the Bearcat scoring looked like this: [player_tooltip player_id='1324683' first='Dane' last='Hagler'] 16, [player_tooltip player_id='1367009' first='Parker' last='Simon'] 11, Garrett Westlind 9, [player_tooltip player_id='1367010' first='Karsen' last='Simon'] 9, Chas Bisbee 7, Alec Peyerl 6, [player_tooltip player_id='1632620' first='Hunter' last='Hagler'] 6, Kale Prouty.

Recent: W 77-41 Drake-Anamoose, W 68-28 Harvey-Wells County

The Sioux just keep on winning and they have proven to be one of the top squads in B. They are not just winning, they are crushing! [player_tooltip player_id='1169145' first='Walker' last='Braaten'] led the way against Harvey-Wells with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and was 4/9 from 3-point land. [player_tooltip player_id='1717045' first='Hunter' last='Tolstad'] had a quality game with 12 points & 16 rebounds. Those are impressive stats when you consider the fact that the Sioux won by 40 and those two would have sat on the bench for an extended period of time in the season half. The Sioux might have a nice little test on Tuesday, they play at Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood.

#4 Bishop Ryan (11-1)

Recent: W 67-42 Our Redeemer's, W 54-32 Surrey

The Lions looked like the kings of the court this past week. In the Our Redeemer's contest, [player_tooltip player_id='1189452' first='Ramsey' last='Walz'] had a splashy Double-Double with 29 points and 12 rebounds. The STUD big man was no match for the young Knights. [player_tooltip player_id='1376819' first='Jett' last='Lundeen'] has also been playing well this year, he has had some explosive scoring games. Walz and Lundeen are a tough 1-2 punch.

#5 Hankinson (9-1)

The Pirates have been a great surprise in Class B. I knew Earl The Pearl was a stud but I did not expect the rest of the squad to perform like this! It's fun to see the Hankinson Pirates playing like one of the best in B. [player_tooltip player_id='1559968' first='Raeshaun' last='Earl'] has been performing exceptionally well, good enough for All-State in my opinion. Earl is averaging 27.3 PPG in the last 4 games. Cooper Boll is a quality role player and he has started to come along nicely for the Pirates. Boll has hit some clutch shots and grabbed some big rebounds when the Pirates really needed them. Andrew Jean has been hampered by a slight knee injury and that is slowing his scoring down but he has been tough on defense. Hankinson is getting really good bench minutes from Oaklee Medenwaldt and [player_tooltip player_id='2211283' first='Parker' last='Falk']. Mr. Falk is shooting close to 50 percent from 3-point land. When Parker comes in, he takes some scoring pressure off of Raeshaun. This week, the Pirates have Enderlin and Sargent County. I do not see Hank having much trouble with Enderlin, but the game on Friday in Hankinson vs. Sargent Central will be a must-watch matchup. Hats off to coach Carter Mauch, as a first-year head coach, he is off to a hot start and the Pirates have proven themselves as a formidable team..

#6 Glen Ullin-Hebron (12-1)

Recent: W 69-48 South Heart, W 71-25 Grant County-Mott-Regent, W 69-57 Garrison

I am a bit surprised that the Bearcats are winning this many games this season. After losing Ben Hosman and Kanyon Unruh to graduation, most people figured Glen Ullin-Hebron would be in the middle of the pack. I guess I underestimated coach Bruce Schatz ability to get this group playing at a high level. [player_tooltip player_id='1729754' first='Will' last='Mickelson'] is the BIG name and best player for the Bearcats. In the win over Garrison, the Bearcats were led in scoring by [player_tooltip player_id='1729754' first='Will' last='Mickelson'] with 17 points, followed by [player_tooltip player_id='1751686' first='Riley' last='Schneider'] with 16 points, and Jaxon Rolle with 12 points. Keep eyes on the Bearcats, it will be fun to see if they keep picking up wins.

Recent: W 61-37 Ellendale, L 66-62 Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier

The Lions dominated against Ellendale. The emerging star, [player_tooltip player_id='1146180' first='Jace' last='Jochim'] went for 20 points and he torched the net for 5 triples. Against EKM, the Lions lost a physical game in a post-season-like atmosphere. Against EKM, [player_tooltip player_id='1146180' first='Jace' last='Jochim'] went for 33 points and 6 triples, however, it was not enough to take down the Rebels on their home court.

The Bulldogs played only one game this past week and they came away with a 14-point victory. [player_tooltip player_id='1145108' first='Luke' last='Martinson'] was a complete beast and finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds. SC was in foul trouble in the 3rd quarter and Martinson led the way/took over. [player_tooltip player_id='2252857' first='Grady' last='Wehlander'] scored 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, dished an assist, and shot a high percentage from the field. Kolten Kadoun also played well, worked extremely hard, and did a nice job on the defensive side of the ball. The Bulldogs have a tough week ahead of them. Early in the week, they host Tiospa Zina from South Dakota, and on Friday they have a huge road game at Hankinson.

On Thursday, The Troopers picked up a quality road win against District 6 rival Wilton-Wing. [player_tooltip player_id='1144980' first='Braxton' last='Iglehart'] led the way with 25 points and was complimented by [player_tooltip player_id='1350687' first='Little' last='Hail Perkins'] with 14 points, and Brody Seidler with 11 points. The Troopers lost to Glen Ullin-Hebron on Saturday. They hung around and battled but the Troopers could not overcome some unexpected adversity. On Tuesday, Garrison plays at Washburn, that will be a good one to check out!

Early in the week, the Miners collected a nice victory against Washburn. On Thursday, Wilton-Wing lost a 2-point game to a well-coached Garrison team. In the loss to the Troopers, the Miners scoring went like this: [player_tooltip player_id='2312607' first='Bradon' last='Wallace'] 20, [player_tooltip player_id='2312611' first='Teigen' last='Earsley'] 10, [player_tooltip player_id='1381719' first='Dontaye' last='Fetzer'] 10, [player_tooltip player_id='2312608' first='Hunter' last='Wolff'] 9, and Jonah Miller 2. On Tuesday, Wilton-Wing travels to White Shield for a District 6 showdown.
