Brophy came out of the gate with purpose and played great team ball. They led from start to finish and withheld some runs from a talented Perry squad. Brophy ended up winning this contest 65-52.
Here, I take a look at some of the standout players from this matchup
Ryan Burbach Ryan Burbach 6'3" | SG Brophy Prep | 2025 State AZ Brophy
The star of the game, shot lights out. It wasn’t just that he was making them, but he made them from deep and with a hand in his face. He knows how to get to his favorite spots and has a beautiful high release. He shot with such confidence and didn’t care who was guarding him. On the defensive end, he used his length very well to disrupt who he was guarding.
Koa Peat Koa Peat 6'8" | PF Perry | 2025 State #6 Nation AZ Perry
Peat showed why he is among the best players in the country. Even though he was limited due to foul trouble, he showed his arsenal of skills, such as the ability to get the rebound and go coast-to-coast with it. Once he gets going downhill, stopping him is like stopping a train, and quite often, defenders find themselves staring at the train. He is phenomenal in weak side help for his teammates, as he has great timing in blocking shots.
Braeden Speed Braeden Speed 6'3" | CG Brophy Prep | 2024 State AZ Brophy
Speed showed that he is one of the better unsigned seniors around. He set out to punish the smaller guards that were guarding him, and he did just that. It didn’t matter who they put on him. He did the same thing to each of them. When he got into the paint, it was either an easy layup for him or an open look for his teammates.
D’Andre Harrison D’Andre Harrison 6'5" | PF Perry | 2025 State AZ Perry
Harrison wasn’t as efficient shooting as he normally is, but he showed the skill set. He is an excellent mid-range player who can step out and shoot the three. He got out on the break and used his strength on defenders. He has the ability to get into the bodies of taller players, which negates some of their jumping to block his shot. This is a lost art that should be used by more.
Luke Rehl Luke Rehl 6'5" | SF Brophy Prep | 2024 State AZ Brophy
Rehl stats weren’t eye-popping, but his presence was definitely felt. He played tough defense and rebounded well. He hit a clutch 3 in the second half when Perry seemed to be ready to make a run. He also showed off the hops on a near dunk that had the crowd on their feet.
