Kerrick Medose, 5’11 G – St. Johnsbury Academy Class of 2024
An unsung hero of sorts, Medose has been that steady guard for St. Johnsbury who simply plays winning basketball. Kerrick’s a reliable ballhandler and initiator of the offense, someone who hits guys on time and moves intuitively off the ball. Moreover, he can break out with nice scoring performances. In a recent game against Rice Memorial, Kerrick went for a solid 22-points, finding the stroke on the jumper and some interior finishes. Most often he’s someone who adds an important 10-12 points in the flow of the offense alongside smart decision making, some dimes, and a couple boards here and there. An instrumental cog for a St. J. team who is among D1’s top teams.
Will Hughes, 5’11 G – BFA St. Albans Class of 2024
Hughes brings the two-way toughness that is omnipresent in BFA basketball. His hardnosed on-ball defense is a given, as is his smart orchestration of the offense in the halfcourt or in transition. He’s someone who punctures the second layer well and can fill it up at the rim or in the short-range. He recently gave BHS a solid 24-point outing against their fullcourt pressure defense, and he’s steadily contributed 10+ or so throughout the season in addition to his role as a facilitator and table-setter. Smart player with no quit in him.
Paul Comba, 5’9 G – South Burlington H.S. Class of 2025
On any given night there are three to four guys at SB who could give you 20+. Paul is certainly one of those guys. The southpaw is a strong spot-up shooter, yet he’ll also break a defender down to create buckets or fill it up in transition. Most recently, Comba posted 22-points vs. BFA St. Albans, a 25-point outburst vs Milton, and a solid 10-piece vs. D1 titan Rice Memorial. Paul is coming into his own.
Xavier Hill, 6’3 G – Hazen Union H.S. Class of 2024
D3’s stat-sheet stuffer, Xavier Hill. Hill has taken on a more responsibility after the graduation of last year’s D3 POY Tyler Rivard and the numbers don’t lie. The lanky lefty with range is averaging near 20-10 a game, posting lines like 22-points 8-rebounds and 5-assists, 18-points 12-rebounds and 3-assists, and 22-points 15-rebounds and 12-assists. The competition he’s facing on a nightly basis isn’t the same tier as these D1 guys, but there’s no doubt he’s a high-level player out of VT. Kid just knows how to play ball.
Noah Jenks, 5’11 G – Windsor H.S. Class of 2026
With impressive athleticism, Noah has begun to solidify himself down in Windsor. Jenks is a natural open-court player who loves to attack the rim. The combo-guard has put up a combined 52-points in two games against D4 Rivendell, with one of those games being a 34-point explosion. Noah hits the three as well, most consistently off the catch. He’s in a similar situation as Hill; playing an array of D3 and D4 teams thus far. I’m interested to see how he does when they face D1 and D2 opponents.
