MLK Dream Classic Newcomers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Monday Jan 15th I attended the 4th annual<strong>&nbsp;MLK Dream Classic&nbsp;</strong>powered by <em>Monarch Sports</em> at Corona del Sol HS. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I took in three games and started it off with the&nbsp;<strong>Saguaro Sabercats&nbsp;</strong>versus&nbsp;<strong>Marcos de Niza&nbsp;</strong>Padres where the <strong>Sabercats won 67-39.&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The second game I viewed was&nbsp;<strong>Fairfax Stampede&nbsp;</strong>versus&nbsp;<strong>McClintock Chargers</strong> and the Chargers won&nbsp;<strong>90-40</strong>.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The third game I viewed was&nbsp;<strong>Willow Canyon Wildcats&nbsp;</strong>versus&nbsp;<strong>Mountain Pointe Pride </strong>and the Wildcats won <strong>55-46.</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some Newcomers that stood out from the 3 games:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2322523' first='Joe' last='Miller']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/joe-miller-3/"></a>&nbsp;Saguaro&nbsp;(Pictured)&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A sturdy framed power forward is very good on the glass and plays bigger then his size suggests. He has long arms and a physical motor and attitude as an out of area rebounder. He scores on hook shots, runners and thru contact. He also converts his free throws with an easy stroke. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2322528' first='Javin' last='Blacks']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/javin-blacks/"><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a>&nbsp;Saguaro</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long scoring guard can catch and shoot from the three point line and has some athleticism. He is quick to get past his initial defender and has the floater game. Once he fills in more and gets stronger, he will be even better.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2322535' first='Myrie' last='Drew']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/myrie-drew/"><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a>&nbsp;Marcos de Niza</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long armed scoring wing forward. He moves well from end to end to defend. Offensively he can hit the three or will cut for buckets in the paint. He rebounds well with his size and plays the passing lanes.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2322541' first='Jhaimier' last='Walker']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jhaimier-walker/"><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a>&nbsp;Marcos de Niza</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker PG has a floater game and can hit the three. He is a little inconsistent with his deep ball but uses his speed to get downhill. He can also pull-up from mid-range. He rebounds well with a very strong upper body and is very quick to get to the rim.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Elijah Ingram F 6'0 2027 Marco de Niza</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A thicker framed power forward scores inside and gets to the free throw line with his physical approach to the game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2322554' first='Vinny' last='Rodriguez']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/vinny-rodriguez/"><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a>&nbsp;Fairfax</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized point guard is tough, skilled and fearless. He can shoot the three and pull-up from mid-range. He has a nice runner with his left or right hand and he is a good passer up the court. He is feisty on defense with good quickness.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323060' first='Kobyn' last='Ray']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/kobyn-ray/"><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a>&nbsp;Willow Canyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized power forward has a sturdy frame to rebound. He sets picks, boxes out inside and does many little things to affect an outcome. He is their only true non guard or wing and will be very pivotal for them come playoff time versus the bigger teams.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2323067' first='Jayden' last='Maxwell']<a href="https://prephoops.com/player/jayden-maxwell-3/"><strong></strong><strong></strong></a><a></a>&nbsp;Willow Canyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard who can shoot the three. He is a true team player and will unselfishly only take good shots, moves the ball and he is a sneaky good passer. He will be a bigger piece to their success next season.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
