Torbert was flat out dominant in the game at the GottaGetIt Classic. He finished with 25 points and earned All-Gottagetit 1st Team honors. I was very impressed with the way that he pushed the pace directly off a rebound. This led to multiple scores for himself and his teammates. Torbert was a powerful poster-worthy finisher in transition. In addition to the highlight reel plays, he got it done on both ends of the floor. At least twice, he stole the ball and turned it into points on the other end.
Hatchett definitely turned heads in this game and was named All-Gottagetit 3rd Team. Since the start of last grassroots season, he’s really taken his game to a different level. Plus, he looks thicker and stronger as well. I really liked the way that Hatchett played off screens. He definitely read the action of the defenders. His man went under the screen and he used the space to connect on a deep 2 point jumper. His man tried to go over top and Hatchett attacked the rim and drew a foul.
Hutson has taken his game up another notch from last season as well. He was a All-Gottagetit 1st Team selection. Hutson has always been very strong working the baseline and he showed that again in this game. He showed body control and balance in athletic mid range jumpers. Hutson was a true 3 level scorer at the Gottagetit Classic. He buried a DEEP catch and shoot triple and split the defenders on a drive and finished with an emphatic dunk. Hutson even went back to the basket, hitting a turn around jumper.
Humphrey-Rembert was impressive in this game and earned himself a All-Gottagetit Classic Honorable Mention selection. He’s a bouncy forward that impressed with his versatility. He can defend and rebound like an elite PF, but stretch the floor and play on the perimeter as well. Humphrey-Rembert buried a couple 3’s, including a pretty catch and shoot triple from the top. He showed some athletic takes to the rim including a 2 dribble straight line drive and a slick spin move.
Highlights
Branson turned a lot of heads with his play in the win against East Kentwood. He was picked as a All-Gottagetit Classic Honorable Mention. Let’s start with his defense. Branson made plays on that end. He hustled back on defense and flat out stopped a fast break score. Literally saved his team 2 points early in the game. Branson showed the ability to effectively defend the entire length of the floor. He was an impressive passer in the open floor and had a couple 2 handed dunk finishes.
