County tournament play is here in the Garden State as teams are playing for a chance to take home a title. The H/W/S Tournament kicks off on Saturday and should be filled with good guard play. Here are the guard prospects to watch in the H/W/S Tournament.

Matthew Scerbo, 6'2 SG Phillipsburg 2025

Scerbo has been powering the Stateliners' offense this season, averaging 19 points per game. The 6'2 guard attacks the basket strong as he can finish through contact and explodes off the floor for dunks. Scerbo is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. He gets his teammates involved in the halfcourt and can defend both backcourt spots. Scerbo has six 20-point games this season and should raise that number within the county tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1216351' first='Frankie' last='Denvir'], 5'10 PG Delaware Valley 2024

Denvir has been hot all season long as he has nine 20-point games already this season. The 5'10 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Denvir does more than just shoot as he can also get to the rim off the bounce and finish around the basket. He has the ability to play off the ball as well and gets deflections on the defensive end. Denvir's ability to run the offense combined with his shooting will help his stock over the next couple of weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1464420' first='Matt' last='Schwartz'], 6'4 SG Hunterdon Central 2024

Schwartz has the potential to have a big H/W/S Tournament with his ability to stretch the floor. The 6'4 guard has a clean shooting stroke and only needs a little of space to get his shot off. Schwartz moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the halfcourt. He is an underrated rebounder and slides his feet well on the defensive end. Schwartz is a sharpshooting guard prospect who should torch the nets for Hunterdon Central over the next couple of weeks.

Ryan Due, SG Hackettstown 2024

Due leads the Tigers in scoring this season and should continue to do so in the H/W/S Tournament. He has a quick release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry as he has two games with seven made threes. Due can also score around the basket and moves well without the ball in his hands. He is a solid rebounder and an underrated passer. Due poured in 27 points in his last game and will need to have similar performances for the Tigers to make a deep tournament run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1943564' first='Alex' last='Fessel'], SG Vernon 2025

Fessel has powered the Vikings' offense over the last two seasons and should continue to do so in the H/W/S Tournament. He plays with composure on the ball as he rarely gets sped up by on-ball pressure and can get into the lane off the bounce. Fessel wastes little motion in his release and can knock down triples in bunches. He moves well without the ball in his hands and is an underrated defender. Fessel has the potential to get hot from deep quickly, which will be crucial for Vernon to make noise in the tournament.

Other Prospects to Watch:

Lesheem Little, G Sparta 2026

Dillon Gallagher, G South Hunterdon 2024

[player_tooltip player_id='2337633' first='Blessing' last='Ekwauzi'], 6'0 PG Warren Hills 2024

[player_tooltip player_id='2107682' first='James' last='DelSantro'], 6'0 CG North Hunterdon 2024

Brayden Franko, G High Point 2024
