Reign Battle Reign Battle 6'1" | SF Moorhead | 2025 MN of Moorhead (6’1 jr). Battle might be the silent hero of the Zimmerman win. His tap out assist to Zarazua meant the Spuds could move on to over time and Battle had a crucial And1 that gave his chance to win the game in the second overtime. His role was defender and worker which got him to nine points and ten boards but he made clutch, game winning plays.
Tate Boswell of Cass Lake-Bena (6’1 jr). Boswell played the worker role really well on ball screens and in the paint. He passed out of the paint, rebounded both ways, shut down a bigger player forcing ten misses while grabbing ten boards himself. Three buckets made and four assists too. Played his role very well.
Lane Dilly of Henning (5’9, sr). This undersized PF/C was the x-factor in the Henning win. At his size he knows scoring on the block is tough so he passes out of the post well, sets great screens and cuts to spaces to get his occasional attempts (hit three of four). His biggest contributions were on the glass and on the defensive end as Lane had 13 rebounds. One of those boards was kicked out to a Henning teammate for the biggest make of the game. A worker who is also a strong running back.
Mason Happel of Perham (5’10 sr). The veteran guard is the scorer for Perham and his four threes gave his team a chance tonight. Good shooter that created some shots for others, his 22 points kept his team in the game although I think Mason had some foul trouble he dealt with.
Austin Kunz of Sauk Rapids (6’3 sr). I thought Kunz did some under the radar things that really helped his team. Austin grabbed nine rebounds, moved the ball four four assists. And scored on four possessions including some important late foul shots. Hard working role player on a team that has a lot of scoring options in their first five. He fits the group well.
Christian Moe of Nevis (6’1 sr). A couple Nevis regulars had rough games shooting and if Moe hadn’t stepped in to score a dozen points including two threes, Nevis never gets the game to overtime. Hit four of ten shots and played an important supporting role for the top ten Class A team.
Masen Nowaki of Fertile-Beltrami (6’0 sr). Nowacki went from a guy that was very quiet to a player who completely changed the game. His dozen points down the stretch and into overtime were the x-factor in the win. His final make was the game clincher plus he had three other scores and some foul shots which put the Falcons into the win column. Big game for the senior against a top opponent.
Charles Scholl of Ada-Borup West (6’2 sr). The senior knocked out two clutch triples late to give his team a chance, he had a team high six rebounds, and oftentimes he was the energy boost his team needed.
Kingsley Whitebird of Cass Lake-Bena (6’1 jr). The second scoring option for the Panthers came up big in half two scoring on four straight baskets including a big momentum building triple. He scored a key 15 points helping the Panthers earn the win over Perham.
Brian Zarazua Jr of Moorhead (6’3 sr). Brian started with a shooting struggle but when the game was on the line at the end of regulation he had an attack score in transition, a three, and then the clutch three that put the game into the second overtime. He had 11 points and eight boards.
